I'm so happy to finally see this!! They are absolutely everywhere in the northwest of the country.. It's been obvious to people living here for a very very looooong time.... I believe what has been stalling any academic developments in SA and many Islamic countries is exactly that. Islam. what's interesting to me is that the Bedouin locals knew the Mustatil predated the Nabateian structures, and their chief even said it was relayed to him by his ancestors that these are from the stone age. Very impressive if they knew that based on oral tradition alone.

they have always been stone worshipers, the kaaba, the obelisk there...I think that most of costumes and uses of islam were already existing, they just put a new name to it, and redacted certain idea... and mohammed impossed his version of his tribe to the rest, versions that wouldn´t vary that much in most of the cases, I think that is makes it possible, in some cases, the rapid explosion and expansion of some empires of the past, in a way most of the job was done, just that one strong ruler managed to "put the sh..t together".

@@Allinda. It doesnt mention Al-Ula by name but it describes the people of Prophet Saleh called Thamud (which the name for one of sites Mada’in Saleh derived from) who lived there. The people of Thamud were much stronger than the people of Prophet Hud (Eber in the Bible) called the people of 'Aad who came before them, strong enough to carve and build such enormous homes and palaces. They are described in Surah Al-A'raf (Chapter 7) Verses 65-78. This verse however describes the ancient carved homes and palaces we've so far discovered in Al-Ula. "Remember when He made you successors after ’Âad (referring to the people of Thamud) and established you in the land-˹and˺ *you built palaces on its plains and carved homes into mountains.* So remember Allah’s favours, and do not go about spreading corruption in the land.” [7:74]

Many people are looking for “steps to salvation.” People like the idea of an instruction manual with five steps that, if followed, will result in salvation. An example of this is Islam with its Five Pillars. According to Islam, if the Five Pillars are obeyed, salvation will be granted. Because the idea of a step-by-step process to salvation is appealing, many in the Christian community make the mistake of presenting salvation as a result of a step-by-step process. Roman Catholicism has seven sacraments. Various Christian denominations add baptism, public confession, turning from sin, speaking in tongues, etc., as steps to salvation. But the Bible only presents one step to salvation. When the Philippian jailer asked Paul, “What must I do to be saved?” Paul responded, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved” (Acts 16:30-31). Faith in Jesus Christ as the Savior is the only “step” to salvation. The message of the Bible is abundantly clear. We have all sinned against God (Romans 3:23). Because of our sin, we deserve to be eternally separated from God (Romans 6:23). Because of His love for us (John 3:16), God took on human form and died in our place, taking the punishment that we deserve (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21). God promises forgiveness of sins and eternal life in heaven to all who receive, by grace through faith, Jesus Christ as Savior (John 1:12; 3:16; 5:24; Acts 16:31). Salvation is not about certain steps we must follow to earn salvation. Yes, Christians should be baptized. Yes, Christians should publicly confess Christ as Savior. Yes, Christians should turn from sin. Yes, Christians should commit their lives to obeying God. However, these are not steps to salvation. They are results of salvation. Because of our sin, we cannot in any sense earn salvation. We could follow 1000 steps, and it would not be enough. That is why Jesus had to die in our place. We are absolutely incapable of paying our sin debt to God or cleansing ourselves from sin. Only God could accomplish our salvation, and so He did. God Himself completed the “steps” and thereby offers salvation to anyone who will receive it from Him. Salvation and forgiveness of sins is not about following steps. It is about receiving Christ as Savior and recognizing that He has done all of the work for us. God requires one step of us-receiving Jesus Christ as our Savior from sin and fully trusting in Him alone as the way of salvation. That is what distinguishes the Christian faith from all other world religions, each of which has a list of steps that must be followed in order for salvation to be received. The Christian faith recognizes that God has already completed the steps and simply calls on the repentant to receive Him in faith. Down below the area is dry also, desert area...but at one point in time it definitely looks to have had a river or rivers down below and probably very fertile wet land. You make a very good observation about it being a cemetery. Why do you think the areas are not any specific shape like a perfect circle or triangle like similar ancient gravesites found in Saudi Arabia?

@@EEA75 - Not a real criticism, my apologies, just grumpy old me wanting to get to the "real deal". I understand that it's an adventure rather than an archaeology channel and that's fair enough. There was one or two shots where you captured that downhill landscape but very briefly. Not enough for me to evaluate but seems like broken by ancient rivers, the kind of which existed in Arabia (and the Sahara) in the "pluvial" periods. I'd conjecture that the people lived downhill and that was probably their cemetery. Hopefully your video will attract someone with academic influence into properly excavating those mysterious mounds. Great video and great adventure, I envy you to some extent. Cheers.

Interesting and informative documentary. I’m Saudi and when I take a plane and see these structures, I always wonder who built it and for what purpose because these are scattered throughout Arabian peninsula. At some point, I know it’s for some ancient rituals due to the fact these are hard to be distinguished unless you are some feet above the land but I wouldn’t imagine these are soo old like 7000 years old. My favourite structures are the triangle with circle on its head,I think these deserve to be studied. Arabian peninsula must be archaeologically discovered since it’s one of the first places that ancient human migration started out of African continent and Arabia was definitely different from what it is today in term of weather and terrains.

There are only two locations which are limited for Muslims and that is from religious perspective since they are sacred places and non-Muslim are forbidden to be there. Also, Saudi Arabia has launched new policy for international tourists from almost 50 countries (mostly non-Muslim majority countries as some people like to call it) and it will take you less than an hour to have it without any invitation ( check visitsaudi.com). Unfortunately, these eVISAs are suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions recently. You are more than welcome to visit the country when the life get normal again.

In a manner, but the systement , "we are interested in the past" isn't true. They are interested in information. Which is different. They seek something other than what they are telling you. I’m not trained, only an infinitely curious, lifetime observer of archeology and anthropology. However my very first thought when they discovered the bones was a processing center created to preserve (smoke) meats. A place where any (nomadic?) tribe/family group could bring their animals. This may have even been during a particular season or time of year, creating a great gathering place for large groups to interact, trade and possibly intermarry among other activities. Although the actual experts there have probably considered this & dismissed it or it would have been mentioned.

Their will be a very strict punishment on that if someone does it. Flogging, stoning, beheading take your pick. I doubt the site will be open to tourist for a long time. Artifacts will be placed in a museum along with photos of the site. I am immensely interested in the history of the fertile crescent and the Nile delta. However, history turned suddenly silent in the south of Petra, southeast of Sinai Peninsula where Saudi Arabia's northwestern boundary lies. Mustatil looked like a cattle enclosure used to keep them safe at night from predators and probably had wood or straw materials covering them from the sun. Modern cattle herders in East Africa use the same technique. The circular structures could've been used to hold feed or water for the animals.
