Psychologists do more than help people cope with life issues; they also conduct experiments to investigate a given phenomenon. But how do psychologists design an experiment? In this episode of PSYCHademia I explore the experimental method. For high school students and teachers of AP Psychology this episode aligns with Unit 2 Research Methods.

Can food colouring add taste to the water ?..and if yes then control group can not measure drinks sweetness because there is no food colouring in their drink....🤯

Depending on the quantity of food coloring added (and chemical ingredients), it could actually affect the taste in real life. This is a hypothetical scenario in which the reader (you) imagines that the taste/drink is not affected by the amount of coloring. It only has a change in color. In this case, your brain (not tongue) could perceive a change in sweetness. And yes, your brain can perceive a level of sweetness in water (control group). Ever tasted tap water vs. bottled water?

The mispronunciation of the word "variable" and a few other words lacking enunciation was a bit distracting for me.

The participant shouldn't see the researcher's face, and the research shouldn't know what the colore of the cup is. That is an example of "Double blind".

Hi, could I ask, if a study involves letting participant watch a video of a well dressed person, and a second video of a causally dressed person, and getting them to select which person they find more trustworthy. If the hypothesis is that people would find the well dressed person more trustworthy, Would this entire study be considered an experimental study?
