Beautiful job! You did it because you can, I get that. I'm a search the clasifieds treasure hunter myself but I thoroughly enjoyed your video. So impressed to see those excellent real eyepiece images too not layered computer images. A testament to the outstanding precision of your build! Nice!

Great job with the 3D printing! Looks amazing! But do you worry about thermal expansion throwing off the mirror alignment? Also, I think I would use epoxy instead of hot glue to hold the mirrors in place. Very expensive if the hot glue should give out.

Very nice project. You get really nice pictures of the planets with your telescope. It has been a little over two years since you posted so I hope you built a motorized mount with an arduino controller for your mount. Back in the seventies, I lived in Marbella for many years. Back when it was a sleepy little village. Now, it is a big, fast paced city that does not look very friendly anymore.

Doesn t matter anyways there is no way a six-inch can see Saturn like the why he shown it.
@alanwatts82394 жыл бұрын
@@patprop74 That would require something in the range of a 150mm.
@patprop744 жыл бұрын
@@alanwatts8239 i was told a minimum of 8 inches aka 200mm is a starting point for a Newtonian style telescope for planets. but I'm not an expert either, so maybe the 150mm could?
@alanwatts82394 жыл бұрын
@@patprop74 A 150mm is the bare minimum for observing nebulae and planets with details, you can see saturn and the rings, you just won't see it close like you would in a cassini picture. It also helps to observe when it's cold outside, in a high place and away from bright lights.
@patprop744 жыл бұрын
@@alanwatts8239 indeed, I'm in Canada so by the time I get mine started and finish lol Trust me it will be cold haha I am however doing it on a very tight budget and I'm reduced to try to make with China-made D203F800 glass set for all i know i might not even be able to see the moon much less a nebulae loll But nonetheless will be fun to make.

Very sadly you obviously won't share your 3D printer files with the community ... why? And some advice: NEVER would use HOT GLUE to glue the mirrors with your parts. NEVER EVER give optical glass such a stress with temperture!!! This could seriously damage and minder the quality of your mirror. Use small drops of silicone instead.

Hi, If anyone is interested, I published a book called "Making Technique for Large Diameter Concave Mirror, Convex Mirror, and Thin-Sided Lens" on Rakuten Kobo E-Book platform. In the book, molding silicone, clear epoxy (or clear plastic resin), polyurethane, air pumping tool, air vacuum tool, wood chips, mirror spray, acetate paper, etc. I mentioned the methods that will allow you to produce meters of diameter using. In this way, you will have the knowledge and experience that you can carry out your projects for astronomy and solar energy in a practical way. Have a nice day.
