Metallic lead cast into grids. Probably from old battery grids. Old battery plate material a mix of sponge lead lead dioxide and lead sulfate. Kerosene added and roasted to make mainly lead oxide yellow PbO and red lead Pb3O4 make an orange mixture. Ground and dilute sulfuric acid added to make a paste. Spread on plates let cure. Sulfric acid makes lead sulfate which binds plates together. Then given intial forming charge to make lead dioxide and sponge lead plates

incredible. thank you for this video. no one else seems to have documented this technique like you have. i feel bad for these workers. they are poisoning themselves. they will suffer from all this lead dust. but it's an amazing craft. hopefully a different chemical battery can be developed that is non-toxic and can be handled safely.

It’s just a machined mold pattern which probably cannot be bought because normally people don’t exactly manufacture lead acid batteries in their back yards. If you want one, you will have to have both halves machined for you.

Its a sad fact that most of these gentlemen wont be here to provide for their families in ten years time, with handling of hazardous materials, breathing in tixic fumes, lead particles going everywhere. If they were given a basic amount of safety gear, gloves, face masks or other safety brwathing apparatus etc, then they would stand a better chance of surviving in to the next decade(s). This shouldnt ve a problem nowadays, the safety gear they need is not expensive. Not comoared to life.
