In the original Street Fighter lore, Zangief was never a bad guy. It's only in SF: The Animated Series and SF II V where he was portrayed as a bad guy. In the movie, he worked for Bison because he didn't realize what he was doing. That same movie had Balrog as a good guy.

CORECTION: (: I am only speaking because I am a student of the 31st grandmaster of the Shaolin Temple (Shi Deru) and id like to speak on a move @8:49 she’s actually doing a Tai Chi move and she is actually pulling her enemy so close that when she strikes with her palm or fist it is tightly traveling next to her shoulders using her hips to force her energy out as she is doing a 180 degree turn with her hips. She isn’t hitting with her shoulder, she is simply striking fast enough that her follow through with her hand is very tight and exaggerated which even in real life you can not see sometimes depending on the level of technique.

@javijavi__1108 4 жыл бұрын
Geoffrey Fletcher yes but as tai chi is a slowed down version of Shaolin Gong Fu (Kung Fu) the extension of the arm form a hip thrusts is what makes her strike so effective.
@HaggenKennedy
@HaggenKennedy 4 жыл бұрын
Are you sure it's a palm strike? Unfortunately, Capcom omits unnecessary frames, so we can't see part of the movement. But that particular throw in Japanese is called "破城槌" (はじょうつい, hajoutsui), and it means "battering ram." The name indicates that it makes more sense for it to be performed with the shoulder. Also, she fights in the Kanzuki-ryu style, which is a mixture of several martial arts, one of them being Bajiquan/Hakkyokuken. While it does have palm rushes, one of its trademarks is also shoulder smashes. I am NOT saying the move you mentioned does not exist in Tai Chi. I AM saying that it's just a game, and therefore not bound to what's real or even most effective. They might have gotten ideas from Tai Chi, but she may really be ramming her opponent with her shoulder (you don't usually "ram" opponents with your palm).
@javijavi__1108
@javijavi__1108 4 жыл бұрын
@@HaggenKennedy Yeah the thing is that the palm is a basic recognition for a hand strike, because the palm can turn into a fist, knuckles, or fingers or even a thumb. But honestly most of these martial arts are not 100% true to the styles for coolness effect.

That 1st Zangief move is basically a Powerslam, where in the actual move the person just hold their target close to their chest horizontally and pivot backward to land on the target's back. What Noah actually do is a Fireman Carry Slam, where he instead hold the target on the top of his shoulder. I really glad she's okay when she said she failed Cammy's frankensteiner, because that move is actually very dangerous. And I also like their piledriver for Zangief's 3rd move, the move itself, the shot, the editing, and Gemma's fake-dead face, just perfect.

Unlike Tekken and SF, KOF moves are far more unrealistic. Kyo's Rekka kick, Terry's Rising Tackle, Ryo and Takuma's Zanretsuken... and imagine re-creating the desperation moves like Ho'ou Kyaku or Ryuuko Ranbu

This makes me think of an interesting question for each of the experts: if they were a character in a fighting game, how would they design their own movelist? Like, a few essentials to their own style or comfort.

8:59 Honestly, that looked more like half shoulder, half back that hits the opponent. Kinda like a quarter rotation. The leg positioning gives a bit of a clue. IRL, it's probably a shove /spacing type of technique, but to be honest, Karin's fighting style is just weird.

There are no contests in the Art of Peace. A true warrior is invincible because he or she contests with nothing. Defeat means to defeat the mind of contention that we harbor within 👊👊👊
