Thanks for the video. This is the most instructive video I have found online. I just bought a n EVO pack and a DENON AVR 1600 H receiver and made several mistake while preparing my new room. 1/ when you mix dressing + remote office + video room, you must deal with furnitures and setting up the speekers is tricky. 2/ Atmos speakers requires 2 cables! so all my prep with cables going in the baseboard was useless lol nonetheles, I may have to change the set up to enjoy one day the equipment

Hello. I have the RX-V6A receiver of Yamaha. I bought those speakers and I noticed that the subwoofer has two ports for rca cable ,but the receiver has two ports for tow subs. My question is if I have to buy a rca 2 to 1 or I could connect the one of two plugs in to the port or both of the plugs on to both of ports. Thank you.

Hi Ian, congrats on your purchase. You don't need to use an RCA 2-1 cable, just use a single (subwoofer) cable and connect one side to one of the SW outputs on your receiver and the other side to the LFE input on the SUB (with the Focal SB that's the white left side). This way you can adjust the crossover settings in your receiver, or let the auto calibration do that for you. Hope that helps, if not, just let me know. Best regards, Yuri

Yeah, Focal makes great car audio gear as well. Cool car, very rare here in Europe, although they are finally selling them via the Ford dealership. The Sib Evo is great if you want a full Atmos setup in a compact package. Personally, I love the speakers but I was not satisfied with the included subwooder and swapped it for an SVS PB-1000 Pro. @@dzjuzepe Hello Andrius. Yes I still have these speakers in my living room. I like them a lot, even with music, which is rare with surround speakers. I did exchange the subwoofer for an SVS PB-1000 PRO. But my room has an open floor to the kitchen, the hallway and the stairway going upstairs. For a normal room, the included sub works just fine. Bare in mind that if you want to use this for Atmos, your ceiling should be flat and not too high. Hope that helps, best regards, Yuri

(Sound quality) so just a rear speakers I need to keep closer to the ceiling? Cause I would keep them arround 2 meters from the ceiling. But I can hang them up on the walls,thats no problem. What receiver you have? How much you paid for everything? How you reccomend me to buy 5.1 focal sib evo dolby atmos or just buy a speakers separated and buy some more powerfull subwoofer? ​@@dzjuzepe I mean the front speakers, they have upward firing drivers, therefore, if you have a high ceiling, they will not do much good. It sounds to me like you have a very large room with a high ceiling. If that is the case I would not recommend this system, since the Atmos effects won't work and the bass of the included subwoofer is not powerful enough. The Logitech Z5500 has a very powerful subwoofer and if you want to upgrade from that system, I would look into something similar like the SVS subwoofer I mentioned and then combine it with 4 nice bookshelves and a center. That will cost about the same as the Focal Set. If you do not need Dolby Atmos, you could look for an used AV-receiver. Most Denon Receivers are quit decent. Great Video. Having just bought an LG g2 tv, I now want to set up a decent atmos system. I like the look (as does my Wife :) ) of these focal speakers. A tall Denon AVR wont fit in out tv unit. Would the smaller Marantz NR1711 be good to drive these speakers. Do you know if the wall brackets can be used for the front atmos speakers, rather than the rears.

Thank you very much 😊 Yes, the wall brackets can be used for the front speakers as well. You can also order them separately, if you want to wall mount the front and the rear. The NR1711 is a decent receiver and should be sufficient for a regular sized living room.

Excellent informative video. That's what we like to see, not just all about the good points but mentioning the bad points as well! And I have to agree with you... those push-in speaker connections are a little bit of a put-off for me. There is one important factor that most content creators tend leave out... for one to be able to stream Dolby Atmos content (Netflix, prime etc) as well as a Dolby Atmos decoding receiver one will also need a premium Dolby Atmos decoding TV and by my accounts that's at least another $1,000 extra. So basically without one of those preferably an OLED TVs the best audio one will be able to receive will be Dolby Digital Plus! Don't get me wrong it is still very good but it is not this so-called 'object-based audio' as we're led to believe! Anyway I'd rather watch a movie on my soundbar with good soundtrack then watch a Atmos movie on my 5.2.4 setup with a bad soundtrack!" Conclusion: Don't worry so much if you haven't got a full atmos setup, it's far more enjoyable to choose a movie with a good soundtrack!

I agree and in most cases I would even advice completely against routing any audio signal via ARC/eARC from or through a TV to a soundbar or AV-receiver. My preferred way is to stream Netflix, Disney or Blu-Ray rips from a Shield TV Pro directly to the soundbar or AV-receiver.

You do NOT need a tv that decodes Dolby Atmos. You only need a recurve that decodes it. You run an HDMI from either your Apple TV, Nvidia shield or other streaming box into your receiver, then you run an hdmi out of your receiver into your tv. It’s absolutely not necessary to have a tv that decodes Atmos, the receiver does it.

Hoi Marcel, het spijt me dat ik zo laat antwoord geef, ik heb deze week nachtdienst :(. Dankjewel voor je compliment en vraag. Eerlijk gezegd ben ik inmiddels overgestapt op Klipsch RP-luidsprekers, met naar beneden stralende speakers voor de Atmos kanalen. Niet omdat ik ontevreden was met het Focal set, maar gewoon omdat ik het verschil wilde ervaren. De effecten zijn nu wel overtuigender, maar met de naar bovenstralende Atmos speakers van het Focal set, had ik ook echt vrij goede hoogte effecten. Denk dat de hoogte van je plafond nog net gaat, vooral als je de front speakers iets hoger kan plaatsen. Je hebt in ieder geval al een goede receiver en subwoofer en omdat de Yamaha RX-A780 Atmos compatibel is, kan ik me voorstellen dat je zin in een 5.1.2 set hebt en het Focal Sib Evo 5.1.2 set is nog steeds een van de weinige compacte sets die ik zou aanbevelen. In Nederland is ie zelfs een stuk goedkoper dan hier in Zwitserland (www.smitsarnhem.nl/sib-evo-5-1-2) Als alternatief denk ik aan de Klipsch Rference 5.1,4 (www.klipsch.com/products/reference-cinema-system-5-1-4-with-dolby-atmos) die heeft zelfs 4 Atmos kanalen, die kun je natuurlijk niet allemaal aan de Yamaha aansluiten, maar dit creëert wel weer opties voor een eventuele toekomstige Receiver upgrade. Tenslotte, als je het geen probleem vind om speakers aan het plafond, of hoog aan de wand te monteren, zou je ook kunnen kijken naar tweedehands surround setjes, zoals bijvoorbeeld een Canton Movie set, en dan twee passende speakers los erbij voor de Atmos effecten.

@@YuriBrus Geeft totaal niets, ik ben al blij dat je tijd neemt voor een reactie dus bij deze mijn dank! Ik zag dat ik bij het schrijven van mijn vraag mijn leesbril niet droeg. Er stonden een aantal taalfouten in de tekst, die heb ik eerst maar eens even aangepast, (iets met ouder worden etc 😂) Maar goed, na dat ik mijn vraag schreef ben ik mij verder gaan verdiepen in de opties die ik heb en las ik nog diverse reviews. Ik kies mijn sets altijd met zorg uit en kijk daarbij ook naar het nut van het gebruik in mijn huidige omgeving zodat ik enigszins mijn verwachting kan waarmaken. Daarbij kwam ik uiteindelijk tot de conclusie dat ik niet wil gaan voor een “reflectie” atmos effect. Ik had in mijn vorige woning twee plafond speakers en dat beviel mij uitstekend maar het aanbod van atmos content is op dit moment nog steeds vrij beperkt en dat nam ik mee in mijn beslissing om toch niet te gaan voor de Focal set. Het toeval wil dat ik, voor ik jouw reactie las, net een Klipsch reference set gekocht had. Het is de Klipsch cinema pack 5.0 geworden maar dan zonder de sub. Mijn kamer is echt een stuk kleiner dan voorheen en de Klipsch set zou makkelijk moeten voldoen met combinatie met mijn Yamaha RX-A780. En ik kan altijd nog uitbreiden met extra speakers voor het plafond mocht ik dat willen. Daarbij vond ik de lage prijs bijna ongelofelijk en ben ik ondanks de reviews toch een beetje sceptisch 🤨 Het wordt vandaag geleverd dus ik ben benieuwd. Nogmaals bedankt voor het meedenken en je uitgebreide informatie, dat wordt gewaardeerd. Ik ga je kanaal in de gaten houden. Groetjes 👍

Hello, I just purchased the system with a 7.1.2 Focal Sib setup. Is it normal that I received a box saying 5.1 instead of 5.1.2 and I got 2 separate speakers sayign dobly atomos 2.0? How do you connect the dolby atmos since it has 4 cable connectors. My Denon X2700 amp has 7 slots for speakers but I am a little lost with where to connect the dolby atmos in all of this. Hello and congrats on your purchase. If you bought a 7.1.2 setup, then yes, it's either a 5.1 plus two of the dolby enabled speakers or a 5.1.2 plus two regular speakers. To hook it up, you will want the dolby enabled speakers as your front left and right. They will require 2 pairs of cables each, one cable for the left front and one cable for the left height, the same on the right side, one cable is right front and one cable right height. In the receiver menu you will have to activate the height speakers, we're you able to do that?

Hello Samanth and thank you for your positive feedback. I only own an Apple HomePod mini, and although I wouldn't go as far as comparing it to a home cinema setup, it does however sound very immersive. Definitely the best compact wireless speaker I've heard so far.

The Subwoofer of the Z5500 is more powerful. Nevertheless, the Focal sub is more precise, and the satellite speakers in this system are a lot better than the Logitech speakers. They do need separate amplification, as that is not integrated like with the Logitech system.

HI Jack, thanks for your question. The Focal has integrated upfiring speakers in the front speakers, the M1 does not have that, and in order to get Atmos effects with those, you would have to mount 1 pair on your ceiling, aimed down at your seating position. Is that an option for you, or would you prefer to stick to reflecting speakers, as with the Samsung HW-Q950A? That is, by the way, an excellent soundbar. May I ask what source device you use, your TV or an external player?

@@YuriBrus hi there, thx for your prompt response, to get a better effect actually i prefer direct than reflect, for my room im able to have two speakers mounted on the celling on my seating area, but for the front, im not able to do that, so my personal thinking is that if i go with focal, the setting can be 5.1.4 as i can put the 2 upfiring speakers in the front plus 2 speakers mounted on celling, for b&w m1, i can only do a 5.1.2 setting. for my sourse, it is 90% streaming (netflix) + 10% download file in nas, and normally i just run streaming since it is convienent. do you have other suggested models? i use to try the elac cinema 30 + bs302 in a store, the sound is ok but as there is not too much review with it, i just dont know which is better choice. thx ~

@@jackzhai7792 I'm also currently looking at ceiling speaker solutions, to install in my office room. I haven't decided yet, but so far the KEF T Series and Klipsch RP-140D seem like a good alternative, since I do not have the option to go in-ceiling. Both of those are nice and flat and easy to match with other speakers within their brand. Mixing the Focal front Atmos speakers with ceiling speakers seems like a good idea too, I'm just not sure if the ceiling mounted speakers will dominate the upfiring front speakers. But my guess is that they probably will.

@@YuriBrus hi thx again, and i think i need to clarify my celling solution is probably not in celling, it is just hang the speakers on celling, and for example if i choose the focal set, then i just buy another two sib speakers and hang them on the celling, so it is still a complete set of focal, the b&w case is just use 2*m1 on celling, as my room space is too small, probaly the satelitte speaker is the best option, currently focal sib, b&w m1, elac 302 are in my scope, do you have any other satelitte speakers suggested? thx.

@@jackzhai7792 Hi Jack, yeah that's what I thought you meant. For your situation I would suggest speakers that were designed for wall mounting and are not to bulky. For my taste, both the Focal and B&W M1 stand out too much, but if you don't mind that, then out of those two, I like the M1 best. Else, you should really check out the KEF T series, eu.kef.com/collections/t-series those are really flat, which might look better when mounted on the ceiling.

Hi there and thanks for your question. Unfortunately this speaker setup cannot be connected directly to a pc soundcard. It needs amplification, preferably from an AV Receiver.

@@CurseOfDeathNo problem, I'm happy to help. You would need a Receiver that supports both Dolby Atmos and 7.1 speakers, 1 center, 2 rears, 2 front and 2 for the Atmos channels plus the .1 for the subwoofer. The rears would ideally be slightly over head. Most modern AV Receivers come with a microphone and built-in setup software that will adjust the sound to the distance of each speaker to your listening position. Still, with these speakers I'd recommend between 2-3 meters from the front and about 2 meters from the back, if possible. The problem with sitting to close to any speaker is that that particular speaker will draw most of the attention.

Hello John, I am convinced that the B&W HTM6 is a better center than the Focal SIB Evo. With six M1 satellites, I reckon you would use 2 as ceiling mounted or down-firing Atmos speakers and the rest as fronts as surrounds? Was originally wanting 603 25th anniversary towers as Left and Right fronts but most likely too much money. AVR is a Marantz 7013 so maybe not enough power for the towers either.

Nice review! I'm also experimenting with 5.1.2 and placement. I watched the whole video but for me it would be easier if there's a room-layout of the setup you used. How high are your rearspeakers? My rearspeakers are 2m hight and I am told that on earlevel is way better, that's why I.m asking. I am currently using old 3" satellite front heightspeakers (Bose-alike) for the Atmos effect also at 2m hight. I want to know if I replace them with dedicated Atmos speakers if there will be huge difference. Do you have some idea?

Thank you for your feedback and question. Any small speaker will do the job, as long as they are of good quality and you have them angled down to your your listening position, they will outperform any up-firing Atmos enabled speaker. In a 5.1.2 setup, like yours, in which you use two front height-speakers, the overall sense of height effects will benefit from having the rear speakers positioned at approximately 2 meters height. I also have it set up this way. Should you upgrade in future to a 5.1.4 configuration, with 4 down-firing speakers, then it is highly recommended to reposition the rear channels at ear level. Still a receiver that handle this is over €1000 and I do not know if the effects will be that better. So I am searching how to tweak or what speakers to upgrade. Hi there, thanks for your feedback and question. It depends on your budget and screen type preference. But, if you want an affordable mid range LED TV with better than usual sound quality, then I would recommend the Sony X90J or even its predecessor, the Sony X900H. The latter can be found for less than $1000 for a 65 inch version.

@@EPSTomcat11 😊 Anytime. Most current TVs are slightly lighter than their counterparts from about a decade ago. Here in Switzerland, the Sony X900H currently sell for 699,-. It's not super cheap, but it offers good value and it is pretty future proof too, with support for all current HDR and sound formats.

@@ESSA20 As a lower cost alternative, I would say a soundbar. But since you already ordered the speakers, you will need an AV Receiver to power them. If you want a brand new, more affordable AV Receiver, then the Denon AVR-X1700H is also a solid choice. I would not recommend any from their entry level AVR-S series, but instead I would rather look for a second hand older Denon, like for example the AVR-X2400. Most AVRs from 2017 and up will do Atmos and DTS:X. You really only need the latest model if you want 8K compatibility, but I would not worry too much about that yet.

Yeah I was thinking g of getting Sony ht a7000 I think it's called or the samsung hw-q950a but I watched a video where they said a traditional setup is much better because the speakers driver have more room to move and therefore produce better sound and avr processor is much better for the same amount of money you spend on the soundbar. I think the LG C1 as 4 hdmi 1.2 and earc but I'm not sure where to plug the ps5 Into and the 4k fire stick which one is better through the tv or avr. Are there products that don't have the video part In the avr , because my TV as 4 HDMI 2.1 and earc. Could I get something that only does audio aka dolby atmos and dtx. I know that avr do 4k amd 8k upscalling but is it better than tv upscalling. Sorry for a the question, it's just that my tv has 1.2 hdmi and earc so I was thinking, do I need the avr if its not better than the tv, so confusing.

@@ESSA20 My pleasure! Some soundbars sound very good, but separates are almost always better. I have both the Focal Atmos set and a Sony HT-ST5000 soundbar, which is their previous flagship model, and the Focal set sounds at least 3 times better. The LG C1 is an excellent TV with all the video support you need right now. What you can do is connect all your devices to the LG and connect the HDMI eARC port from the TV to the AV Receiver. This way you will only need to connect 1 HDMI cable to the receiver and all the video and audio signals go directly to the TV. The audio can be passed on to the AV Receiver but you will always have the option to use either the TV speakers or your surround setup. The only downside is that the LG does not pass through DTS. It does however, pass through Dolby TrueHD including Atmos.

The distance between Front Right, Center, Front Left are to small. You should keep the Front on the wall and keep the center where it is. So you get more distance and seperation better stereo respons from front left and right

You're right, the L/R channels would benefit from a bit more distance between them. I'm not using these speakers any longer, but for those that do, I would recommend the optional speaker stands from Focal, or like you suggested, wall-mounting them.

Nice video. I also enjoyed ur Sony G700 soundbar review. Thank you for this video. I just sold my Bose soundbar + Base module 700 to get a Dolby atmos 5.1 speaker package, I’m contemplating between SVS prime 5.1 package and this Focal 5.1 package. Can u advise which do u think is better? Thank you in advance!

Hello and thank you for your feedback and question. For my taste, this Focal Sib Evo Atmos set looks more stylish in a living room and is surprisingly good with music. An SVS Prime Set, especially in combination with their elevation speakers, does sound much better with movies. I am currently testing out an entry level SVS Subwoofer and it blows the Focal Sub away.

@@habiburrehamanshaik6146 You're welcome. Do you want Dolby Atmos as well, or just surround sound? I think the Focal set is a good all-rounder if you want good Atmos plus Music playback and you can be satisfied with the subwoofer. For my l-shaped living room it is a bit underpowered, but for a normal size, closed room it could be adequate. I still like the Sony HT-G700 Soundbar as well. It's in my office/work-out space.

Yes, the reason I sold out my Bose sound system (Soundbar 700 and bae module 700) is to get) is to get a good atmos system which can also serve as a good system for listing music, it goes with out saying Bose music system was excellent because of the my living room shape I couldn’t get the same surround experience which it suppose to produce. Hello, I come to you following the project to buy 6 in-wall speakers Focal 100 IWLCR5 + SIB EVO. Focal puts forward the made in France, a damn good argument in addition in these times following the wuhan virus which rotted the planet for two years, and in extenso the made in china, an easy solution which destabilizes fair competition ET, serious, mediocre quality that ages badly After some research what was not my frustration to see that Focal flagship it seems of the hi-fi made in France, made to manufacture this speaker in China country champion of the world of counterfeiting and flouting of human rights. I am deeply appalled by this strategy of the Focal brand. However, it should be noted that many companies including major brands and prestigious labels manufacture in China ONLY for the Asian market which is abysmal, not for the rest of the world. JBL for example is the only brand to own its own factory in China, few people know it. In addition, nothing is subcontracted except for the monograms and speaker grilles as well as the connectors provided by Neutrik, the best in the audio industry. The inescapable problem is linked to the sites Amazon, Alibaba (wholesale) and Aliexpress which distort the situation by relying on the fact that globalization cannot prevent them from delivering to Europe and France. Focal shoots itself in the foot by relocating several series to China because it quickly becomes known and the made in France so much claimed by the brand is shattered.
