It’s really sad that so much value is placed on a degree that’s so worthless yet so expensive.
@robd1859 Жыл бұрын
It should be against the law to require that for a blue collar job that really only requires a trade that you can complete from trade school in about 3 months. It's like becoming a truck driver or electrician or plumber or welder it's just a blue collar trade

Read books, listen to podcasts, and watch as many videos as you can. Most importantly you should build flight time to become eligible for employment. You only need to be 18 to get your commercial pilot certificate and start earning a living as a pilot. The majority of pilots hired by the legacy airlines have a bachelor's degree and I highly recommend your attaining a degree if your goal is to get hired. With that said, airlines have hired pilots without a degree. The degree makes you much more competitive.

When comparing two applicants, the master's degree may have an influence on the hiring decision. Remember, a degree is only one of many deciding factors when looking at a pilot applicant.

Does the R-ATP help out significantly? Does those 500 less hours really help out?
@__________________-________- Жыл бұрын
Hey I am in the same boat as you with the same questions. Yes and no, in all honesty it does not matter in the long run but if your worried about the time to become a pilot then it’s a 3rd less time. 1500 hours will take you 2-3 years to build up so 1000 will be 1-2 years. However I believe you should think of other advantages rather then the RATP to make your decision

I currently work so for me to go get a degree is not an option. Will this actually not get me a job at the regionals or majors?

Many of the majors prefer a Bachelor's while most regionals will hire an applicant without a Bachelor's. Many people work towards a degree while working for a regional. It is best to focus on pilot certificates and flight time first then a degree.

Although you should try to achieve your best grade possible in math, the more important skills needed as a pilot are basic algebra. Remember we are solving for equations every day such as how much fuel we will need. Basic math skills and Algebra are what you will need to fly.
