Taxes haven't gone up, but GDP has gone down. We have some of the lowest taxation in Europe and also the G20. If it's taxes that are killing the economy, why is it that the German economy is doing better than ours with higher rates of taxation? How did we solve the high post-war Tax Burden? Tice says he has no knowledge of who runs two offshore companies that have held shares for over 25 years in his family business, Sunley Family Limited, and which now own a combined 42% stake. Tice denies any financial interests in the offshore companies. Politicians and international tax experts have today demanded Tice “urgently clarify” who is behind these companies. John Christensen of the Tax Justice Network said: “Tice and his fellow Brexit travellers have called for ‘taking back control’ yet nothing undermines parliamentary democracy in Britain more than offshore tax havens.”

FFS, just listen to all that word salad. "Con Socialists". Firstly, I'd love to hear them explain how we actually pay for essential services without taxes. Secondly, I'd love to hear how they can "make Brexit work", if the Tory Party are unable to do it. The worry here is the deriding of any progressive economic policies as "Socialist", because the libertarian alternatives simply throws us further into a neoliberal mire. When something isn't working, you don't do more of it hoping for a different outcome.

Interviewer “Arguably that’s quite socialist”, answer “ no far from it, cutting taxes for the lowest paid, the least well paid is a fantastic thing, that’s what sensible”...socialist would do!!! Go ahead mate, take the votes form the Tories, because the only way they got such a huge majority in the last election was because there was no other right wing competition as UKIP gave way, so go for it, take the right wing votes, the left really won’t mind!

The European Court of Human Rights predates the European Union, it began in 1950. It was none other than Winston Churchill who signed it on behalf of the UK. I wonder what might have happened had Richard Tice told that to his adoring fans, rather less applause I think, when he suggested leaving it.
@johnmoore9862 Жыл бұрын
Sir David Maxwell-Fyfe, the incumbent attorney general at the time for the conservative government had a huge influence drafting the legislation which are the ECHR foundations, hardly left wing, Richard Tice should read Pastor Martin Niemollers poem to his followers, though both he & them would struggle to understand the core principle behind it.

If we get PR the political landscape will change completely. Corbyn McDonald and RLB will head a very successful social democratic party and labour and the Tories will decline massively. We'll end up with solid centre left green coalition government in perpetuity, which is no bad thin. Most people in the UK vote against the Tories and are actually more left wing

Just seen on KZbin that Pontins at Southport (a beautiful seaside resort) Burnham On Sea, and Camber Sands (all under performing) are going to house up to 9000 illegal immigrants. Without exception they are all being refurbed and could re house thousands of our citizens trying to get a home. This feels Criminal to me!
@banksarenotyourfriends Жыл бұрын
The answer is to give more rights to the homeless, not remove rights for others. The government is compelled by law to look after asylum seekers, if they were compelled by law to look after the rights of the vulnerable from this country too, then things could change just as quickly for our own less fortunate people. We're a rich country so it's not a case of not being able to afford it, the government just chooses to do nothing about it. The border force and immigration has been intentionally underfunded since 2015, and that's created a huge backlog in cases to be processed - that's why the government is desperately doing up knackered holiday resorts now to try and house people that are in the queue. If they just funded the immigration department properly then those people could be processed and either allowed to stay if they're legal, or sent home if they're not, but until then they will be able to convince people that we've got a 'migrant crisis', which they will then promise to try and fix to get your vote at the next election. It's all just a big game to them, don't let them play you.

Yet we have gain 100 billionaires since they have come into power and more than half of the tories are multi millionnaires. How exactly is that socialism. Does Tice even know what any of the dozen types of socialism are.

Reform are radical neoliberals, as were Thatcher and Truss. Although Reform don't stand much chance of election, their function is to provide a presence to push The Overton Window ever to the right and are happy to feed off the disenfranchised "left". They're anything but conservative and it's probable that they receive a lot of "support" from Uncle Sam to help drive an ideology which is clearly aimed at destroying what's left of the welfare state and pushing us all into servitude in the guise of libertarianism.

I think the problem is, people don't fully understand what sort of country these policies would result in, implemented by people like him. He pretends to be a man of the people.
