Notice how he blew the whistle before the shot is called if it will miss or not, the ref was looking at the contact. He doesn't care if the basket goes in or not. Fair Call.

I was just rooting for a good game and these two team provided it. I never agree with the "blaming the ref" thing. There are so many things you can do during a game as a team to change the course of what happens, so to blame it on one play is weak in my opinion. I think that the Creighton coach eloquently expressed this as much during the post game presser. It was a good game and both team fought hard. If the Aztecs play UConn in the Championship, it would amazing to see an upset.

That trail official who made the foul call, that was the right thing to do. As Gene explained, it affected the play enough that the Aztec shooter's shot was disrupted. About the inbounds play, I was thinking that the final call would have been SDSU ball with 0.2 second left, but I didn't realize the timer started the clock about four-tenths of a second late, meaning even though the clock expired in live action, it still would've expired before the ball hit the floor.

Played basketball a long time and coached even longer. Love the commentators like Barkley that said eat the whistle at the end of a game. if that were the case, you’d see a lot of injured players at the end of the game. There are savvy fouls (gray area) and unsavory. When the offensive player “beats” you and is mid-air on his shot and you clearly push that player before the shot is released it will get called 100% of the time.

With this logic you're saying because teams go on bad streaks they don't deserve to win. Creighton absolutely could have and should have closed this game out early. They didn't. I still don't think that means the officiating should decide the outcome of a game even slightly. Creighton couldn't pick up a rebound to save their life and let SDSU stay in it. That being said, Creighton tied it with 30 on the clock after the errad pass from SDSU. I don't think that the officiating should favor SDSU solely because they shot better tonight....calls HAVE to go both ways tonight and they didn't.

I guarantee that tenths of a second are gained and lost throughout the game on just about every inbounds pass where a human being has to turn on and off the clock or shot clock. It's an inexact science performed, in this case, by impartial officials. Why only scrutinize the final moments of the game and not every single instance throughout the game? That's not new, and overlooked. So go ahead and make the call for Creighton...you can see SDSU still was never given a chance on a majority of pundits. one of the worst officiated games of the year. All game long kalkbrenner was getting hacked in the post and he only got 1 and 1 call. he should have had at least 10 fts with how much contact there was in the post. then of course at the end of the game they have to call a weak hip check to give sdsu ft's wtih 1 second left. Also not to mention the questionable no call with 8 minutes to go where a SDSU guard hacked at ryan nembhards right wrist and he you could tell he wasnt the same after the dirty no call. it wasnt even a basketball play either, nembhard had the ball dribbling with his left and the dude just comes over his back and swats his right wrist and the ref was staring at him and calls nothing.

Creighton got away with a bunch of fouls, themselves, and I saw AT LEAST 3 cases where Creighton ballhandlers traveled, but weren't called. That last play had to be called, it was an obvious, clear foul. Not calling it would have given Creighton an overtime they hadn't earned. SDSU came back in this game multiple times and just wore Creighton down. Give SDSU credit for never giving up, never letting up, and giving it 110% from beginning to end, even when their shots weren't going in.

The foul call was horrible, especially given how the game was being called all game. There was a lot of contact being allowed all game, including for example on Creighton's drive at the 0:39 sec. mark. You want to refs to make consistent calls and not needlessly decide the outcome. Not as bad as the Seton Hall/Michigan 1989 call with the phantom foul in OT, but still pretty bad. But as with Seton Hall back then, Creighton needed to make more of its chances. Bottom line it came down to SDSt driving in the final seconds.

Knuckleheads like Charles always say things like “Let them play.” That’s certainly the trend lately. And if officiating keeps going that direction, the biggest and strongest and meanest players will take over all sports, rather than the BEST players. Fouls matter, and even though I was pulling for Creighton, that hip push definitely had to be called!
