@ Yes they are a real band, been around for about 12 years or so. They're meant as a goof on 80's hair metal, - not a parody, since they perform original material -complete with the look, the attitude, all the debauchery that came with it, and absolutely hilariously profane lyrics in their songs. They're a lot of fun live. Just saw them in NYC last week. Don't know how old you are but if you were a certain age in the 80's and experienced that scene, Steel Panther is pretty much on point and nails it in an extremely amusing manner.
