Can you do a video on what makes a top candidate or how to become one
@hugosrborges4 жыл бұрын
Tks a lot for the video man. I got an exploding offer for a M&A boutique some weeks ago and I accepted it a few days after it, refusing another one and taking off my applications for other firms straight away. Big mistake, after a week they “declined” my offer without further explanations and letting me totally hands free. (If anyone has any advice on what should I do in this case, I’ll be more than happy to receive it)

That's really awful, definitely captures what's so wrong with the finance industry. If they're willing to rescind and ghost a candidate though, it's probably not a place you'll want to work. It's also a lesson that you shouldn't revoke applications / refuse interviews until you've signed a contract or have some legal agreement in place. At least you have the confidence that you can get an offer though.

Wish I could have watched this video before navigating exploding offers! Super helpful.

What would happen if you accept an offer but a better one comes along and you want to withdraw from that first offer.

I wouldn't renege while in school because word travels really fast and reputation matters. In the real world, I think you can get away with reneging. Everyone has their own moral code though.

Could you do a video about which universities and degrees in US/Europe are best for a career in finance?
@PeakFrameworks4 жыл бұрын
We have a video for US uploaded (investment banking target school list). Europe is harder to do because I didn't work there and because GDPR rules prevent us from scraping as accurate of data.

Hey Matt, loving the KZbin content and blog posts! Was wondering if you offer one-on-one consulting sessions for say 30 mins or an hour?

You can e-mail me at matt@peakframeworks.com. I'm taking a break from coaching but we have someone with tech PE experience on staff.

Can you make a video about extracurriculars and jobs to do to make yourself a more desirable candidate? Maybe also things to help get into business school. Thanks!

this happened to me. kind’ve sad but it’s whatever. probably won’t stay with them full time but we’ll see how this summer goes in the city

to be clear I got the offer at the beginning of recruiting this year. I had 2 days to accept
@PeakFrameworks4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's how it goes sometimes. It's still great to get an offer though and if it's only the summer you can still recruit full time!

Hey loving your video, can you make video about off-cycle intern? Off-cycle intern is comparitively less known than on-cycle process. It would be lovely if you give information about how to get or what it's like in off-cycle intern. THANKS
@PeakFrameworks4 жыл бұрын
We actually have a video about off-cycle recruiting in the pipeline! I was going to wait for PE recruiting to kick off before posting it, but who knows when that will be...

Why did you decide to quit PE?
@PeakFrameworks4 жыл бұрын
Wanted to do my own thing! I would say half of the people who do PE stay, but many end up doing other things after.

can you do a step by step for sophomores to ib
@PeakFrameworks4 жыл бұрын
Sure. Generally though... join the best finance club at your school, have a 3.7+ and get a finance internship in your sophomore year summer.

Is there anyway getting into VC without investment banking. Brother is 3 years I. investment Banking and hates it - repetitive tapping away in excel and looking at screens all day. Any other routes to VC?
@PeakFrameworks4 жыл бұрын
It's actually probably easier coming from a technical standpoint... motivated engineers and product managers do well. For non-technical, banking is probably easiest. Consulting does well too. Successful entrepreneurs probably do the best overall.

@@PeakFrameworks how about mathematics degree with minor in finance?
@coreyschramm53904 жыл бұрын
Hey, great video, I want to pick your brain a little and see where I rank among other candidates in finance. So currently I am a freshman (18yrs old) at Indiana university (IU) Kelley, double major in finance and business management potentially along with a minor in data science. Gpa is between a 3.7 - 3.9, will likely become a Kelley Honors Student, and involved with two finance clubs with the possibility of having a leadership position in one. Eagle Scout, and working towards a Congressional gold medal, along with an array of leadership positions in other various clubs. If you need more info I can give it to you, but can you give me an idea of where I would rank and any advice how I can improve my chance of getting into finance (not sure if I want to go into IB or sales and trading) longer term want to go hedge fund route. Looking at working in Chicago or NYC, for Goldman, JPM or Morgan Stanley.
@PeakFrameworks4 жыл бұрын
Lock down the leadership position at the finance club and keep a 3.7+ and you should be in pretty good shape. Kelley is reasonably good. You'll probably need to be a top 20 candidate at your school. You should keep Lazard on your radar too, Kelley sends a ton of people there.

What should you do it your not top choice for a company. Like what should a avarge person do if there looking at a biggish firm.
