Glad to hear this review! I read the rules and it really appealed to me, but had a slight something making me unsure, but now after hearing your review I know that it's for me. Thanks for helping!

Wood printing wears significantly faster than acrylic. A significant number of people that backed the deluxe version of Ra found the wood components wore down too quickly. I cannot verify, but I suspect this is why the recent kickstarter offered a heat transfer acrylic edition.

Man the components for this are amazing. Better than most kickstarters I back! And the acrylic resource pieces are definitely better than cardboard, Sunniva!

Would have loved to see a playthrough for this one. Still undecided if I will pick this up at Spiel.

We would have trouble fitting it on our small studio table 😅 Also, time is not on our side with playthrough atm, sadly.

Great video. My decision to buy this blindly at SPIEL was mainly based on this video. Haven't regretted it. Its theme is a bit weird, since I only played Bitoku once and skipped most of the Kemushi saga, but I like the concept of this game, especially knowing the dark fate of this society in "Sand". It's very intriguing trying to stay in balance and knowing, this is a fake balance, with some stupid shrines and stuff, and this is not going to end well. I very much liked the components and colours, too (despite of the acrylic tokens, I guess, this is my inner Daitoshi citizen saying "come on, they look good!"). Still hope its easy enough to get to the table. The mechanisms are cool and intertwined, but when it comes to "why do I have to do this now in a real-world sense and why can't I do ... instead?", this is no Lacerda, but might feel a little pasted, theme-wise. It feels thematic, yes, much more thematic than for example Terra Mystica or Carnegie, but it's difficult to relate to worm-buses and a mega-machine looking like a fish. What I really like after one play, however, is the interaction. No direct conflict, but everything your opponents do will shake up your plans.

You said it’s not that heavy… I don’t think I’ve ever had my brain burnt as much as my first play of this, ever! I’ve only ever played one Lacerda, but generally like heavy is games like Barrage, Sankore, Scholars etc, but this was the hardest to get my head around

It sounds like there might be a potential runaway leader problem? (My one complaint with Barcelona was what I perceived to be a start player disadvantage.)

it does seem a little weird that the point of the game seems to be to exploit nature and people as much as you can until it hurts you and then you do just enough to placate the spirits - kind of like Spirit Island but like you are the conquerors - not sure how I feel about it

So, so different games, so they are hard to compare. This is lighter and less brain melting, but I do really like them both.

I miss the time when the not important part of the art was faded compared to the relevant art 😢

I think I love both, but I also think that function is important in this art. Some games feel like the art is more important than function, but I also think it’s possible to do both well!
