Thank you for the videos. Decades ago I photographed many small train stations around Michigan. Most are gone along with the railroads. Unfortunately due to a spinal injury I can’t explore anymore. So your video allows me to go with you.🎉

Those tracks were abandoned in the mid 80s with most of the tracks being pulled up by then from around Grand Rapids to Jackson. The tracks you see were used till the early 90s for the grain elevator. But then they completely abandoned it. In Charlotte, off of Lansing road behind the hosptial, you can see a Dinner train. Not sure if these are the cars that were at the place you were visiting, but there also used to be an old locomotive there. It's been gone for years.

Nice one of our old Parlor Cars from the LIRR I know those seat colors I used to ride a train made of one parlor the rest were regular ping pong coaches, the parlor cars always had the red carpet on the sides anyway that was sometime in the 1990's

Not a parlor car. Car number is 2957 and was a generator-equipped locomotive hauled coach. Under car generator provided power for each individual car. The parlor cars were numbered in the 2000's. All of the coaches when rebuilt had the red carpeting on the walls.

@@RailfanJourneys Ok so it was a regular Ping pong my mistake it is kind of hard to tell with all that graffiti and shrubbery

@@williamcawley1113 The "ping pong" cars were an even earlier generation of coaches. Those were built in the 1920's and were retired by the early 1970's. These coaches were built in the mid 50's, rebuilt into "electric heat" cars in the late 1970's and retired 1999-2000.

If you go into Charlotte on Cochran across from the Mexican restaurant you can see the postal car that was with it until recently bought by the Coopersville Marne railway

Rumor has it that it’s getting scrapped on site

That's the rumor. Scrapping in the middle of that jungle will be a huge job. It would be easier in town at the site where the 44 toner was loaded onto the low-boy.

I have seen people make some cool looking homes out of those rail cars…..nothing will ever be done with that car but to just sit there and rot away sadly

I agree. I'd love to see someone purchase it, fix it up, and use it for something more than it just sitting and falling into decay.

Cool channel How old is the car? Was this built for Amtrak or merged into Amtrak? How do you know there were other cars? When were the other cars moved (when was the last time they were known to be there)

If I'm honest, I don't know the answer to any of these questions. I'm sorry! The contacts I spoke with only knew that there were originally three cars and two were taken away recently. I apologize I don't have more information than that.
