Hello. I am so happy that you enjoyed your stay at Vieques. My mom was born and raised in Vieques and I lived there for two years when I was a child. While living in PR I took the ferry numerous times to visit family or vacationing. I have been to Navio, Blue Beach, Sun Bay, Glass Beach My favorite beaches in Vieques are Navio and Media Luna. They are so beautiful and yet so different. Yes I have been to two black beaches, in Martinique and in Maui. I have been to the Vieques biobay twice and once in Cabo Rojo. All 3 times was a magical experience There is also one in Fajardo. I grew up on Puerto Rican food and still enjoyed it. The sandwich using tostones instead of bread, is a new thing. Thank you for posting your stay in Vieques. Watching it has made me nostalgic and now I want to plan to go back to Vieques. BTW - Skylar I love your hat. Take care and looking forward to your next video.

@@franciscovillafane1828 we and an absolutely awesome time in Vieques! We knew we were going to love it, but it still really surprised us. We loved all the seclude beaches, the amazing mofongo, and all of the horses. Perhaps the biggest surprise though was how much we enjoyed the Black Sand and Seaglass beach. We never knew black sand could be so beautiful and that collecting sea glass could be so fun! It was really great to experience another bio bay too. We really hope you are able to get back to Vieques sometime soon.

I get absolutely lost in your videos. Loved all the pastel buildings, bright tangy green plant life, sea and sky. I went to Punalu'u Beach in Hawaii. It was so unusual. The whole tone of the beach changes with black sand. Thanks for being so much fun and curious! I am living vicariously until this summer when I can finally hit the beaches.

I love Vieques but have not been in some years. We toured the bioluminescent bay in a glass bottom kayak and it was absolutley amazing. We also had a wonderful meal at Coqui Fire restaruant where they also make and sell the best hot sauces! Your video makes me want to get back soon. Thanks for all of your wonderful content. This was our first time even looking for sea glass and were surprised how fun it was. I bet you've collected some great pieces over the last 20 years! We didn't know you could find sea glass at Caladesi, we will have to look for it next time we visit, thank you for sharing that information :)

I've enjoyed many of your vlogs as you've explored around my area of Florida. My wife and I have been considering a cruise, and to my surprise another one of your enjoyable videos popped up. I have a question, if we want to get away for a very short trip, a couple of overnight stays near to Tampa (but not too close) do you have any b&b recommendations with a few fun things to do within walking distance? Your personal knowledge would be sincerely appreciated!
@Explorcation10 ай бұрын
We're really glad you are enjoying the channel. Regarding your question, there are many spots close to Tampa that we love for a short staycation, but most do involve driving. That said, I think we could have a lot of fun in Safety Harbor, Gulfport, Crystal River, Dunedin, or Tarpon Springs without a car.

Thanks for the Rincon del Sabor recommendation! Yes, they were excellent. I can't say the same for our car rental place (not the place you guys went to). Rude and snarky. Would never use them again. Sun Bay and Playa Negra (hard to find that path!) were excellent, except that Play Negra had a tree stump with barbed wire wrapped around! Not safe!! The poverty of my countrymen/women in Vieques hurts.

Thank you so much for watching and sharing your experience. We are sorry to hear about the car rental place, but are glad you made it out to Rincon del Sabor, Sun Bay and Playa Negra. I don't recall the tree stump with barbed wire but we may have missed it.

Ok, I know this has nothing to do with the topic of this video, but I wanted to put this on your radar anyways. We just moved to Tampa about few weeks ago, and a brand new Dim Sum restaurant just opened up in Tampa near the USF campus, and it’s awesome. It’s called “Grand Fortune Restaurant” on East Fowler Avenue, and it features large banquet hall style dining, and it is top notch. My wife and I haven’t found a place as nice as this since we visited Vancouver BC, Canada. Give it a try when you’re free on a Saturday morning, you won’t be disappointed. Show up about 20 minutes before they open at 11am, because the place fills up quickly, despite it being such a large restaurant. :)

Do you ever get bored exploring beautiful beaches? Me neither. The only black sand beach I’ve been to was in Iceland and the rocks looked like fresh poured lava. I was told they were 4,000 years old so I guess they don’t weather very easily.

haha, you already know our answer 😁wow seeing that in Iceland sound very cool. We will make it there some day. We almost booked a trip on a budget airline to Iceland once...but decided against it LOL we thought we probably want to go on a more comfortable airline for a flight like that!

Although the water is technically blue, the reason it was called Blue Beach was for the military to practice their maneuvers. The beaches were named after colors (red, green, blue, etc.) for strategic reasons to practice war games. Also, mofongo is pronounced MOE-PHONE-GO. 🙂
@Explorcation6 ай бұрын
That's really interesting information about Blue Beach. Thank you so much for taking the time to share! Also, thank you for the pronunciation corrections. We always manage to screw up at least one or two of them on our travels 😂

I just looked this place up! $100 a day for UTV seems worth it. I also see that they let you bow hunt those wild horses. It’s like $150 for the guide. You can get 3 per day, that seems like a lot. They must want to get the population in check.
@Explorcation10 ай бұрын
We thought that price for the UTV was very reasonable for the experience. I am not sure where you found the information about the horses but we did not find that to be accurate. While some of the horses are wild, many are owned, but roam free.
@amgooder10 ай бұрын
Bow hunt? ....that's cruelty...never heard of it...
@briankulzcak703710 ай бұрын
@@amgooder yes, I was surprised as well. The tourist guide book we downloaded offers guided and semi guided hunts. It states firearms are strictly prohibited. The department of natural resources is looking to control the damage the invasive horses are doing to the native landscape.
@paintedpawstudioPetportraitart6 ай бұрын
As a resident of Vieques, I can confirm it is incorrect information that you can hunt the horses. It is a criminal offense to shoot one. If you paid for that guide book, i would ask for your money back because that is false information that could really get you in trouble.

I kinda prefer Sun Bay Beach and Sea Glass. I live in Puerto Rico so I pretty much know them and my husband and I will be there next weekend and I'll check out Rincon del Sabor! Two weeks ago, I spent a day at Culebra. Although Culebra does have amazing beach, I find that Vieques, being a bit bigger, offers more options, all around - beaches, restaurants, places to stay, etc. The first time I went to Black Beach and the short hike there. So glad you enjoyed your time in the island. #Vieques
@Explorcation10 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the beaches. We definitely understand why people would prefer Sun Bay and Sea Glass, as they're much easier to access than most of the others and still have a lot to offer. After spending time on both islands, I think both Jamie and I agreed that if we had just a day or two, we'd prefer Culebra, but if we had longer, we'd prefer Vieques. Like you said, Vieques just has so much more to see and do.

Hi, May I share the most important news you will ever hear? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?
