Caloundra is a popular coastal town with stunning beaches, vibrant street art, trendy cafes and restaurants. It is located on the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, 94 kilometres from Brisbane. When we stayed in Caloundra, we explored Kings Beach and Bulcock Beach, discovered the amazing Street Art and enjoyed coffee and pastries at Lamkin Lane. We then explored Moffat Beach and Golden Beach, wandered through the Sunday market and visited Currumundi Lake.

Kings Beach is Caloundra’s most popular beach, and it’s a favourite with both locals and tourists alike. It has a free 25-metre saltwater swimming pool, cafes, playgrounds, and picnic areas, making it ideal for a day of relaxation and fun.
The heritage-listed Kings Beach Bathing Pavillion, built in 1937, is still used as a cafe and changing room today.
The Rockpools at Kings Beach, Caloundra, have a fascinating array of small, colourful fish you can watch from the edge of the large rockpool. The best time to see them is at low tide.
A series of murals showcase the coastal culture around Kings Beach and parklands from the 1920s to the 1950s.
Bulcock Beach is the closest beach to Caloundra’s town centre. This southern-facing calm-water beach is ideal for swimming, fishing, boating and windsurfing. Across from the beach, there is a great selection of cafes, restaurants, and boutiques. The beachfront esplanade has shady parks, grass areas, picnic facilities, and playgrounds.
Caloundra has a great street art trail that includes the brightly coloured and iconic mural on Dingle Avenue. As you wander around town, you will find more fascinating murals near the Art Gallery and down the little laneways.
While admiring the murals on Lamkin Lane, we popped into the Lamkin Lane Espresso Bar and Cafe for a coffee and fresh pastries.
Moffat Beach is located on a spectacular section of coastline with a high headland lined with trees. The protected bay is not patrolled, but the sandy inlet of Tooway Creek has a shallow swimming area that is popular with families.
The grassy foreshore is lined with pine and pandanus trees, and picnic tables, shelters, toilets, and a playground are available.
Golden Beach at Caloundra extends over four kilometres from Bulcock Beach to the mouth of Bells Creek along the Pumicestone Passage. It is a calm beach sheltered from the swell by Bribie Island and is popular for swimming, fishing, and windsurfing.
The Caloundra Street Fair is held every Sunday from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm in Bulcock Street in Caloundra. There are over 120 market stalls with fresh produce, locally crafted homewares, fashion, art, flowers and plants. The Street Fair has a vibrant atmosphere, delicious street food, fun children’s entertainment and live music.
Currumundi Lake is located 6 kilometres from Caloundra it has lovely calm waters and golden sands and connects to the ocean at the Currimundi surf beach. Near the lake are picnic tables, toilets, shady trees and several cafes.
The Currimundi Beach is 1.3 kilometres long and patrolled by lifesavers on weekends and school holidays.
