Thanks for sharing. As you mention, there are some remarkable features in this church, including the stair which once would have served the rood loft, and a squint on the other side of the chancel arch. St Denys / Dennis was first bishop of Lutetia Parisiorum - Paris - beheaded on Montmartre in the third century. He was extremely popular across Europe during the middle ages and was regarded as one of the 'Fourteen Holy Helper Saints'. French kings were buried at the Basilica of St Denis in Paris. Your drone footage is great - really shows off the exterior so well (albeit it made me feel a bit dizzy!), and also the surrounding countryside and adjacent buildings (is that a farm yard?). Bedfordshire skies seem to go on forever. There was an earlier St Denis, Dionysios the Areopagite, mentioned in the book of Acts, a disciple of St Paul and first bishop of Athens, who was traditionally present at the death of the Virgin Mary and took part in her funeral.

What a magnificent church! I have a question: Why is the entrance to most parish churches in Britain on the side of the church?

The small door is normally known as the priest's door to enter and leave without being seen.

The victorian windows are by Heaton Butler and Bayne. The single angel is medieval.
