Wow! Oakleigh has changed quite a lot. I lived in South Oakleigh (south of North Rd) up until mid-1980. In the mid-1970's there was a Sunday morning market in Oakleigh. Forget the exact location though. Doh!

You are doing a great job! This not help to understand Melbourne's history but also give an idea of a local eatery. cheers

Some said this suburb basically one of the subs which still have the real melbourne vibes. From the vlog, yea I agree if compare to cbd and other suburbs nearby cbd area which are literally no longer authentic Melbs. Anyway I will be back soon. I miss Australia so much, especially Melbourne. God knows how much I miss Melbourne!

I’ll be moving to Melbourne to study at unimelb Which suburb would you recommend... cheaper and closer to unimelb Thanks
@spencersmith68753 жыл бұрын
As someone with a sibling studying at unimelb, I know a couple suburbs you might like. For example, there's Carlton if you wanna be right on the doorstep of the uni but is a little pricey or you can go to Brunswick or Fitzroy for a cheaper but really rich in culture 'bohemian' vibe. Also, Coburg is cheaper but a little further away but still worth having a look at as students live there. It's also on the train and tram line. which is a plus.

RICHMOND Victoria has the largest Greek community in the world outside of Athens. Its been this way since the 1950s. Brunswick also had a large Greek community.

Thessaloniki has a population of over a million (metropolitan area). Richmond has more than that?

This is so interesting, my cousins aunt lives in Melbourne and i so want to visit australia some day. I noticed st.kilda has a lot of british style homes. Do you have council estates in australia or just high rises?
@garynewton1263 Жыл бұрын
Council estates? Not really. High rise commision flats we had but I think most have been demolished......They were in Richmond, Collingwood, Fitzroy, Prahran, South Melbourne & Kensington. As far as Britsh style homes in St Kilda? I think not. Nothing English about Melbourne, its mainly influenced by European, American, Irish & Scottish. You'll find sydney & adelaide are very english in style, that's what Makes Melbourne and Perth Australia's best cities to live in, bedn that way since the 1850s. English style is ugly and depressing.

@@garynewton1263 We definitely used to have council estates in Melbourne. A lot of houses still exist in places like Port Melbourne Ashwood, Dandenong etc though now private homes. These days council houses tend to be a one off in the middle of privately owned homes
