My favorite scope I wish they would bring back

Thanks for a great review. Good to hear from someone who knows what they're talking about (a telescope maker). I've been thinking about this scope for a while now, a truly multi-purpose telescope.

Nice little review. It was good to hear from the source. Thanks... I may be looking at this purchase over an APO Refractor from Explore Scientific. Hard to decide, but the price is right for this baby!

Thanks for the thorough explanation. Reflectors are notorious for tube currents and performance killers. Some comments suggest that for the Maksutov-Newton the time the temperature needs to adapt to the environment takes longer, but on the other hand: it's a closed system and that might avoid turbulence once the telescope has the same temperature as the environment. Could you shed a light on this issue?

It would help if you included the price with accessories. Left us to go hunting for the price.

Mr Roberts, how about a sct in the f6.3 like the old meade, any thoughts on that , i know you had one in the works, would be great if you make one in the lower focal ratio to compete with meade and celestron f10 sct's

Anyone, who knows David Levy, is worth listening to. I'll be checking out this scope.

Hi, would it be possible for you to make a video on installing a ZWO EAF on the Comet Hunter; I tried installing one recently, but now the focusing tube slides in and out, and can not get it to be in place.

The formula for theoretical useful magnification of a telescope is the aperature (in inches) multiplied by 50. Thus the 5.98 inch David Levy Comet Hunter has a theoretical maximum of 299.

This scope had a focal length of 731mm. The power of a telescope is focal length of the telescope divided by the focal length of the eyepiece. If you plugged in a 6mm FL eyepiece, the power would be approximately 122x (731/6 = 122x). Using a 2x Barlow lens would double the power to 244. As mentioned in an ES post here, since usable power is 50 power per inch, that would be theoretically possible. Too bad this scope is out of production.

700US seems a bit pricey for a first scope. Nice one though.
