This pre-cut framing system utilizes advanced computer technology to design and cut all the necessary components, from bottom plates to top plates, and even the sills and jacks. The result? A highly efficient construction process where framers can quickly and accurately assemble walls with minimal cutting on site.
In this video, Tim Uhler explains the significant differences between panelized and pre-cut systems from his extensive experience in the industry. He highlights the advantages of ready-frame packages, such as reduced labor and the flexibility to make on-the-fly adjustments if necessary. Tim shares a past experience with a panelized project that went wrong due to miscommunication, emphasizing why he prefers the pre-cut approach for its balance of efficiency and adaptability.
We also discuss the benefits of integrated digital tools provided by Builder First Source, which help builders plan out every detail, from truss placements to HVAC routing. This ensures a seamless fit and coordination between various elements of the construction process. Plus, hear about a real-life example of homeowners on the Oregon coast who chose this method to expedite their build and protect against coastal weather challenges.
Whether you're a builder looking to optimize your workflow or a homeowner curious about modern construction techniques, this video offers valuable insights into the ready-frame revolution. Don't miss out on this exciting journey into the future of homebuilding!

My home built 20 years ago had all walls and trusses made in a factory off site. The walls were installed in one day, the trusses the next day and the roofing the next. I’m still living in this home today. This is the best home we’ve ever had. No problems since being built. I’m in the Chicago area.

Back in my day, you'd just order a house kit from the Sears & Roebuck Catalog, and they'd deliver every piece ready to assemble.

We are the friends on the Oregon coast that Tim mentioned. Our plan is a one off, one time only build. After being out of residential construction for 15+ years a lot has changed. After doing research on how to work efficiently with less crew including going to IBS in 2023, we knew we wanted to do the ready build. It’s been a learning curve and some of our framing help was resistant to using it. That being said, I am now on the top floor and was able to frame and stand 7 walls ALONE in less than 5 days with almost zero waste. A few swaps here and there due to changes or wane in material. Regardless it’s a game changer. The best employees on this project are the forklift and ready frame! @awesomeframers @risingerbuild

I really wanted to use this system for my home but BFS said this was geared towards production builders and doing a one off would be extremely expensive. And they even said doing precut studs for 11’ ceilings would be cost prohibitive.

I love the idea, but I'm concerned about the movement that could occur in the lumber during transportation. This occurs all the time, and we account for it, but Ready Frame has itemized the entire material package. What if I need to cull a few crucial components?

Why wouldn't CAD based computer controlled wall construction work as well as roof trusses, which have been around for decades? Surely something could be don't to make sill plates adjustable for the foundation pour. It makes it easier to use advanced framing as well.

considering that barely any framers have any experience with ready frame, how would they know how to price a job? I would assume just about all of them would price it as a typically build . Serious question here as I'm in the build process.

Don't ask a framer, get the quote from the frame producer direct and tell the builder what product to use.
@johnwhite2576
@johnwhite2576 15 күн бұрын
@@jabberwockytdi8901that would only push the question down the road. The framer will make a high quite to cover extra time, and builder will pass along to client. That said, I would insist on being credit for at least half the proposed dumpster fees. That’s where ready frame shines, plus, your neighbors will love lack of noise.

Why not go ICFs for all exterior walls? Three guys up to roof rafters in 4 days. Can still go pre cut for interior walls if need be.
@bwillan
@bwillan 25 күн бұрын
ICFs require a definite thought out plan for window and door placement. Making changes after the fact are very difficult. Once you account for that, I agree, ICF from foundation to roof are a great way to go. One gets a high performance air tight home for practically no extra work.

When you see the abysmal quality of so much framing in the US and how inefficient it is to frame on site I'm amazed this hasn't been a thing for at least the last 30 years already? I guess there is a vested interest there somewhere? but I'm not sure what it is. The big US house builders are not exactly well known for passing on any opportunity to increase profit margins.

Ready frame is to carpentry like AI is to office work. The repetitive work is eliminated so the workers can focus on the details. AI is not taking most peoples job. Its just dealing with the work that takes time away from more productive work.

Would never go panelized, takes all the fun out of building and perfectness when there ARE little discrepancies. been there 30 plus years ago in Alaska, something similar. NOPE.

Panelized way stiffer than plain framing, 30 years ago that kind of stuff wasn't usually being done of CAD and CNC manufactured , no excuse whatever for discrepancies to drawing these days , more likely if something doens't fit things went wrong on site not at the factory
