Explorer ST Whipple IC Results on STOCK TUNE

Results from the Whipple IC install on a completely stock Explorer ST, in low ambient air temps. Very happy with the CAC temp reduction!
Now the foundation is laid for the tuning process!

In your experience with a whipple stage 1 kit, I see u used stock tune with it, will doing so like that void a warranty? Since your still using fords calibration. And also if do load that tune will that void a warranty? I’m just wondering because I know whipple and ford do have a relationship with each other and do have whipple tuned mustangs/f150s that are covered under warranty

Good question! So how Ford handles warranty situations on any vehicle is this. If the non-Ford/aftermarket part causes the failure of a part on the vehicle that is covered under Ford warranty, it's not covered by Ford. In the case of the Intercooler, it would pretty much have to shed metal into the intake stream to cause any non warrantable condition in Ford's eyes. Almost no chance of it affecting the OEM warranty at all. Same goes for a Tune, it's ok to tune them (mine is on an E30 tune now), but if something happens, it's easier to assume the tune might be the cause....and more plausible it may not be covered under warranty. In my experience, you just have to have a good relationship with your dealer AND be real with mods vs warranty. Tune/Intercooler are generally pretty warranty friendly mods, but Tune/E/Intercooler/Exhaust/Intake and you'll be pushing it if something major happens. I'm a dealer tech of 18 years, and my policy is the 1st major failure is usually covered if it cannot absolutely be tied to the mods. BUT if the same failure occurs again in the near exact same way, and the vehicle has mods that could be tied to that failure, it's on the customer. Do i have to tune if i install whipple on explorer?

No. I was able to run with the Whipple intercooler with no tune and had no issues/check engine light at all. I usually return the tune to stock when I do road trips, and have driven hundreds of miles on the stock tune with no problems at all, and the IC really helps keep the power up in hot temperatures vs the stock one! Not currently, however I do all have all the data and dragy runs documented to make some content showing the gains on 91, and E30 at this point. I will make an effort to push some content on this soon, Thank You for the suggestion, and for watching!
