From all the precon games I saw with these, this deck was consistently the threat if not just winning the game. Probably the best deck out of the box IMO

Merfolk is good for sure, but if hakbal is not on the battlefield, the deck is pretty slow by itselft, it remind me my krenko deck but less powerful

​@@BL92291That's why you need a few alternatives to the commander. just in case someone knocks it out of the water. like path of Discovery for example. adding a few more Lords couldn't help either. there's also the heart of progress. a very cheap land that makes any creature entering the battlefield stronger. it also needs a good defense package as well. I have added a few cards to reshuffle my graveyard into my deck. just in case I can't bring anything back from the graveyard and all my best stuff is there. I also added a few foolproof counter spells and the mirror shield. if you want a good video on how not to run explorers of the Deep? watch that lost caverns episode of game knights

Kopala doesn't give them ward 2 because it leaves triggered abilities open. So, your opponent can use something like Blotfly Infestation to chain a board wipe of your 1/1 Merfolk tokens.

Also ward is counter if x isn't paid. So removal that can't be countered gets by ward... kop makes it cost 2 more period

Yeah, I'm buying this. I have a zombie tribal deck and they can become strong really strong a few turns in, especially with death baron and a few others that give them not only 1/1 counters but also deathtouch, menace and so on 😈

My Merfolk deck was the first I built and invested in and I have to say this precon has a LOT of the cards I payed much more for to build. Hands down solid pick and for a reasonable price of roughly $37. To compare, my Merfolk currently sits at $350

I made a budget selesnia dragon bolster tribal deck for a precon level. My group said it's not precon level, so I can't wait to pull this deck out and say this is precon level.

Kumena is the commander for this Deck, i kick all the explore stuff and add a few bombs so this Deck is playable. Thats the only deck i buyed . New Art for Branching Evolution is also sick! Imagine having 10 merfolk and a seedborn Muse and kumena on board lol 🤣
