My husband and I Stayed in this Hotel November 24 1984 for two nights after we got married. It looked really nice back then. We had a court side room near the hot tub... And Wallie I got my husband to watch this yesterday afternoon. He is just amazed at what is still left in there. Keep up the good work you are doing. And as always remain Totally Awesome

On occasion I do this type of thing (explore abandoned places) and I follow the same line of thinking take nothing and leave nothing behind but footprints. There was one exception though. When I entered an abandoned local thrift store I found a stray German shepherd and her pup so I brought them home and my life has never been the same

The place was only a few years old when my wife and I first stayed here in July of 1978. Words cannot do the pool area any real justice as to how beautiful it was. The restaurant looked out on the tropical-themed courtyard and in the evening the amber glow of the lighting lent an ethereal atmosphere to it all. My recollections are tinged with nostalgia but it really was an exceptional motel when it was a Sheraton.

Sad to see this place like this! I stayed here every year for 17yrs for the truckshow in Bloomsburg. We ALWAYS had a great time. The pool the bar 100s of people partying in parking lot. Burnouts everywhere and the management and cops didn't care. Unroll the new owner took over. A turban wearing guy from India or somewhere. He killed the fun, was never the same. We never caused damage just burn out and beer. The original owner and some of the staff would come out and watch. I gave quite a few cold Buds to them all. It is miss by my friends and I.

It’s a hotel…built in the 70’s. Used to be a really popular spot to go drinking, we called it going “out to the days.” The hotel is outside of town and a lot of drunks frequented that place for that reason. It was permanently closed in 2013, and as of today 12/2/2022 the county now owns the property and it set to be demolished quickly, as it houses a lot of squatters and is a well known stop off for drug traffickers off of interstate 80…well it used to be anyhow. The whole property will be completely flattened.

There is hotel in my area that used to be really nice but got run into the ground by poor manegement. It was a holiday inn that was built in 70s and expanded several times over the years. Being a airport hotel it grew to have a conference center and indoor pool among other things. Sadly it got sold to some independent owner that ran it into the ground. The owners didnt do much to the hotel and let it fall apart to the point that the city threatened to shut them down due to numerous code violations. What ended up was a ghetto run down hotel known for crime and mold problems. It ended up closing down and was recently sold to new owners. They are in the process of turning it into 3 smaller hotels and demolishing the conference center and pool area. Also congrats on 15 k

This is one of your best videos. That Days Moldy Motel is super creepy. Glad you trusted your common sense and your gut to NOT go to the second floor. Would not want you and your companion to go crashing through the second floor into mold central. I don't understand why Days Inns parent company just left everything like this and didn't take out the furniture and other fixtures. It's like inviting homeless and druggies and runaway teens to stay there. What's sad is all of them have zero respect for the place. If they did something earlier another budget hotel chain like Motel Sex (sorry SIx) could have taken over the property. Did you hit 16K subscribers yet? Congrats in advance. Vandals really wrecked the hell out of this place, didn't they?
@internetkumquat45425 жыл бұрын
Commonly it's a vandal that causes this much damage, however, in other parts, it seems to have been caused by moisture in the air and water damage. Commonly a building (even when severely damaged) will not have too much mold unless it's moist, humid or water present. Commonly the first leaky roof in an abandoned building is a farewell kiss because untreated water entering through a roof can easily rip any building apart. Water with carpeting, cloth, leather, etc if it's moist or water present mold or moss will chew through that type of material or simply cake to walls. This Days Inn was abandoned around the mid-to-late-1990's or early-2000's judging by it's torn apart appearance and decor that looks tacky and 70's or early-80's. With all the torn apart "guts" in the ceilings, it's easily been around 12-13 years of water seepage and vandalism that took this place to a possible, quick death rattle. It's a shame as I took an interest in the pastel palette colors in some of the pool bar areas and the restaurant. Hopefully, my insight gives a bit of context, other more professional people can give much better analysis however here's my indication.
@internetkumquat45425 жыл бұрын
FYI: Bud Light Lime was introduced in 2008, so it's been around only a decade since this building was abandoned. My mistake it looks much worse than I thought.

Yelp has reviews through 2011. Per the video description, it closed in 2013. The walls and windows were definitely smashed by vandals. You can tell by the way the wiring was ripped out that copper thieves hit this place hard.

@@as6110 Could've have expected. I've commonly seen videos of places abandoned between 2002-2008 that looks like this, though 2013 itself is over 5 years ago, boy though never would've expected it. I remember sitting in my grandmother's car right in front of the lobby waiting for her to get the room key and I can picture us sitting there when watching the video. It's super cool but super weird. This place really went downhill the last couple of years I was there. I remember the cleaning ladies leave the doors open so they could smoke and that's how all the bugs got in the hallways.
