I was transferred here for 2 weeks from cook county jail on friday dec 17th and left on december 30th in 1993 for intake. I remember my cell was the first cell on the 8 gallery. I remember the chow hall and also a seperate building that had showerheads in the ceiling. Good times.... lol

You guys be real careful in that prison. I'm pretty damn positive there is asbestos in there; the peeling paint chips hanging off the walls. I'd definitely wear a lead and asbestos respirator while exploring around in that prison. Great video, nonetheless. PS Just to be on the cautious side wash your hands and equipment with lead-off wipes after you get done exploring.

Was their for two days in 1993. Lol my brother worked their so I mentioned his name to the Sargent in intake and was put on escape risk and was transferred to Illinois river correctional center now called muddy water. I did 2.5 yrs for possession of cannabis 4 lbs worth lol

Unfortunately I am one who saw this prison from the inside when it was open. It is a video I could've done without watching but couldn't stop watching due to the fact that the memories came flooding back as you kept exploring... I for one will not miss it. good riddance it always did look like a creepy Castle.. In it's current state it really does. Old joliet prison is a tourist attraction now they showed the blues brother there just a couple of weeks ago it was pretty cool it was alot of people there and dan ankroyed made a video appearance so cool

This prison didn't fully close until after the beginning of 2004. I was housed here/there at the end of 2003 while awaiting further classification. It was run the fuck down, but still partially operational. Funny that it's all "spooky" and "abandoned." Kind of crazy when you live it and see others "oooh and ahhh" over it LOL

The scenes in the cell blocks were filmed in a studio because the original cell blocks were too narrow. And, they were just two floors high but in prison break it was three floors high.
