🇦🇺😎👍My father was a prison guard for 28 years. He served a short stint at Woodford, a few years at Boggo road and finally served the rest of his time at Wacol where he retired at during the early 90s. My father retired as a Chief. When he went to work he looked after the criminals. When he came home he looked after the prisoners. Not an easy life as a child , quite life changing actually. . In 2023 he passed away at age 78. . Years later I met a few young guys who went to jail for a few years . Both of them told me his name was Mr. Cruel. They both served at seperate times…All these years later I know very little of what he did or what happened in his job but after reading some of his diaries from the 1970s I realise he had to deal with a lot of stuff most people will never have to encounter….His name was Jeffery Walter Collins

friend of mine was in the Police Special Operations Group, they were always training with explosive shape charges to breach these types of old facilities, I went through the closed Fairlea womens prison in Melbourne in the 90’s. i found many walls breached and all kinds of stun grenades and blank cartridges everywhere.

You're spot on! Found out after this was filmed it was used for training drills, imagine they'd be pretty fun.

I was in there in 1997 was fuckin awsome haha we seen some hectic stuff could still buy ciggys the 2 halls for eating is cause boneyard was on the other side of the wall and all us main stream were all on the big side in the vid my celly drew the castle on the wall in 1989 but yeh hectic as so good to see the old place again so many good times and yeh you could buy grog once a fortnight and ya had a limit of 12 tallys on the buyup for your cell so you could get 6 and ya celly could get 6 or if he didnt drink you were aloud 12 but yeh wasnt to bad a day out here and there and we used to all sleep with female officers all the time or get them to bring drugs and stuff in quite alot before it got closed down and we all got moved to other prisons and it was only due to the condition of the cells and the fact it was all falling apart then but and they had made new facilities this is the low sec and medium side tho where ya can basically roam within the fence and ya only had to be back for count and lunch dinner and lock away was 9Pm
@urbexgecko9 ай бұрын
Man, thank-you so much for sharing all of this....answered so many questions. Makes sense about the boneyard. Love that the castle was still there for you to see. That's absolutely wild that you could buy booze in there, and the officers got down like that. Doesn't sound like too bad a time at all haha. Not sure if you heard but it was demolished recently.

@@urbexgecko yeh knew it was Gunna get demolished was meant to get demolished back in early 2000 but they decided to use it as a training ground for a while and yeh prison was way different back in the day when U were aloud to smoke and drink and all the officers were actually half decent and was not much rules or anything was just a giant day care centre for crims haha obviously heaps of bad shit aswell but majority of the time it was good

If there is one thing what I would like to explore, is an abandoned prison... Unfortunately there is none in Hungary where I am from. If you think about that people spend time in those cells, many hopes, dreams, regrets are still left in those cells.

They don't come up too often in Australia either. Very true, you can feel that lingering energy in the cells.

@urbexgecko6 ай бұрын
Funnily enough the side you would access it from had no signs, plenty closer to the active prison though. It's government land, unsure what they will do with it now. Can't see anything commercial going there, possibly upgrade and extend the existing police K9 facility as they used to use this site for training anyway.

Yeah mate, best bet is on the weekend though as the police train there though the week. From what I've read about it on FB lately, it sounds like nothing has changed security wise. It's tricky to get to when you haven't been before, If you need a map and more info just reach out on FB or IG. I was going to take you there last time you were in the area, but you didn't reply to my message haha.
