Exploring aero with Campagnolo Bora Ultra 50 and Zipp 303 Wheels

Tacoma Cyclist and the Boogeyman compare two wheelsets - the Campagnolo Bora Ultra 50s and the Zipp 303s in a head-to-head aero time trial experiment. We also look at "in the drops" vs "on the hoods."
We perform 3 runs - one on the hoods, one on the drops, and then we swap wheels and see how it goes.

I just ordered a set of the Campy Bora ultra 35's and came across your video, by the way thanks for posting a great video, they will be here this Friday, i've done a lot research on these wheels and the Zipps nsw., I went with the campy because i though they were about the same, as far as stiffness and aerodynamics, but i just feel the Campy Bora is such beautiful wheel, and i hope it looks good on my red F10.

A year ago, I broke down and bought an expensive full carbon road bike. Now I am trying to add more expense to it by upgrading parts. I think I'll just watch the reviews you and boogeyman do to get ideas of what to buy next haha. Great video again, guys!

Haha...living vicariously through our videos, eh? For what it's worth - though I talk about how different they feel, they only netted a few seconds difference between wheels. That **could** be chalked up to environmental variables too.

Can i use other quick release skewer for bora ultra? I want change that coz bora too heavy

I am absolutely struggling to decide on which rims to purchase for cyclocross racing. My final 3 are all over the place but each has advantages and disadvantages. I will be running tubeless. my final 3 are: ZIPP 303, Dura Ace C40, and Stans No Tubes Grail MK3. Any ideas or advise?

my math: 30,000 kms 303, gained 2 km/hr when switching to ENVE SES. took me 10 kms to understand: zipps are too aero and low angular momentum, turn and trace S. ENVES anchor as V and trace straight. as do boras... zipps are my slow day ride

You're in for a couple nice surprises. First, they climb like a beast. Second, they're way stiffer than the Zipps. I ride my 50mm wheels even though I have lighter climbing wheels mostly because they respond so well. I've never felt hampered on any climb due to their larger profile.

@@TacomaCyclist Definitely true. I think that part of this is due to the G3 Spoke pattern on the rear wheel, which delivers excellent power transfer and lateral stiffness. I have a set of Eurus aluminum wheels, and they are by far faster than my Shimano Dura-Ace C-35s, I've seen the evidence in my Strava data. The Eurus wheels Far stiffer, and roll much smoother than my Dura-Ace wheelset. I'll definitely get a pair of Bora Ultras when I spring for a carbon wheelset next spring.
