I think that the great aspect of a good interviewer is that they listen more than they talk and that they ask questions that encourage their subjects into speaking about what motivates them. I love that about Lucas. I'm not Mexican but we did have tamales for Christmas. It's part of living in L.A. and to remember the essential workers. I'm so happy that Lucas is bilingual in this regard.

Afromexican were influenced by native comunities that's why they celebrate Dia de Muertos with their own dances and traditions. But a lot of mexicans have african heritage but we're very mixed and it's difficult to know it.

Information is misrepresented in this video. The state of Guerrero does have a lot of gastronomy, culture and population with African roots, but definitely not mole or tamales. The green mole is almost completely indigenous, the red mole with chocolate is more indigenous, Spanish and Moorish and the tamales are definitely indigenous, the only African influence in the tamales is when the corn leaf is replaced by a banana leaf or some that they are made with fish, however, the variant of tamales with banana leaf is only made in states with a large presence of black population such as Guerrero and Oaxaca. However, almost all states have their own variants of tamales with different techniques, flavors and names that have absolutely nothing to do with African roots.

I've never had any dishes with any of the ingredients you listed, other than rice, but rice is one of the most universal foods on earth so I don't see what your point is. Lmao 🤣 this ain't Afro-Mexican food. This is Native American food from the indigenous people of Mexico which other cultures adopted as theirs. The slaves took the culture. These people also have a lot Native blood in them. They look way more Indian than African. They need to accept their Indian. A lot Indians are also dark skin.

There is native Indian in Mexican blood however, that native Indian blood traces its roots back to Afraka. The original Indians, way prior to European contact, were Afrakan. Afrakans for thousands of years migrated outward of the Afrakan continent to North America, South America, Asia, Europe etc. As climate changes and adaption to other environments outside of Afraka occurred those settled Afrakans slightly shed off their traditional Afrakan features and physical characteristics but still very dark no different than the inhabitants of Afraka. European (Spaniard) initial contact with Indians many were Black in complexion. Majority of the original natives murdered by Europeans (Spaniards) were tribes consisting of Black Indians. The diluting happened throughout the 1400s and 1500s of Europeans genetically mixing with Indians diluting the Africanization of the Indians and replacing Afrocentric blood type with European blood type changing the whole appearance of Indians from Black to White which is why most "natives" now are actually White.

In Mexico nobody cares about that because we are very used to see different cultures and mixed traditions. They are africans and native at the same time and it's completely normal. Everybody in Mexico is mixed so that's obvious. The important fact is keep the traditions and never cut the roots of México and their home town like every mexican they're very proud of their town and Homeland.
