$6 is pretty common for those industrial machines. I used to use them to wash 3-4 loads of laundry at once. Ended up being cheaper in the long run.

Damn... The lady in that first missing person photo ended up being found dead in a marsh in November after missing for 2 years.

This is what happens when 3rd world immigration strikes a city. In the 1950 up until about the late 1990s this town was booming with life and good neighborhoods.

I used to go there as well, the washers worked fine but the dryers always sucked. The play area used to have a small activity set up for toddlers. I want to say that the laundromat was still operating 10 years ago but i moved from Gary since then

Omg bro 🤦🏼♀️ They weren't bringing in enough money to afford the repairs. They'd probably been struggling for a long while. It definitely was not the out of order machines that drove them out of business. Those old machines are literally infinitely repairable. Their age wasn't the reason they remained out of order. Maybe consider just describing what you see, rather than speculating the whole backstory. It's cute that you were able to record your first time inside a laundromat though.
