As others have mentioned, the channels in the floor were for cabling and pipes. Older generation electrical and electronic gear such as that used at a weather station would require a lot of power, and also a lot of cooling in the sort of climate New Mexico has. Those channels would be for all the pipes and cables associated with that. Also, as mentioned by others here, it makes it a lot easier to access those conduits for maintenance purposes.

Cool! That makes so much sense now that it’s been explained to me.

Cable vestments. Easier than running them underground and maintaining them.

That makes sense! So they have easy access for repairs or changing them etc. my understanding of this place was it was a weather station so they were probably making the equipment talk to each other?

@@WhatsUpWithJames Yes, this is also common practice in recording studio environments where one needs to run cable and it be out of the way, the flooring lids that cover it keep enough noise from transferring between rooms, and if you need to run an extra cable, just flip the lid open and run it.

I’m trying not to give away locations anymore. People tend to destroy stuff even further than it is after it’s found. You can message me on Instagram and I can reply privately that way if you really want to know
