Morey's Piers have had many different kinds of rides in it's history. One ride that was removed in the 1980s is somehow still around...abandoned and rotting away!!
We found out where it's located and took our camera film what it looks like.

Would you like answers to your questions? We own the Marina which you were touring. Note that the UFO was brought here as a Clam bar (never a gift shop). It was sold to someone to actually restore it back to a home on the Hudson River. That project was never completed and it sold again. The shad cabin is a monument for Goose Goslin who was a professional baseball player that used to fish at the bayside cabin. The “pods” you saw were owned by someone that wanted to store them here to turn into a home. They were previously an office building. Look up pod homes and you’ll see some really cool creations in California. The other cool thing to note is that there is an awesome Restaurant and outdoor boat bar on the Marina Property called the Bait Box (open Seasonally). Thanks for visiting. Would have been great to provide you the tour.

Note as well... the “wrecking ball” is a mourning bouy. The tower is an entrance marker to the Cohansey River. The big nest on top is From the Osprey that come each year to nest and have their babies. The float is a container ship raft that was found...not that old and just chewed up a bit. There is so much history down here.....

Thanks for explaining everything. I’ve eaten at the bait box several times over the years and the food has always been excellent. I knew I saw those pods before so it must have been when I was at the bait box. Do you know where they were set up as an office building? Thanks!

That's incredible. I used to work in the Planet of the Apes in 1973 I was 15 or 16 working there for the summer being from North jersey. We would wear blue sweat suits with a lifelike ape mask and scare the crap out of people. They would enter this ride through a drop-down door walk up the steps and sit in a theater like surround and the disc would rotate for a little while the guy in the control Booth would seriously turn into an ape himself it would stop the people would get out on the inside of the ride and walk through and down stairs through a series of special effects

+1000! I remember when that ride was built in the early 70s and it was definitely planet of the apes! I also remember the first year of King Kong! That was the ride all of us kids talked about when it opened.

Look up a KZbin video titled Wildwood boardwalk 1974 and you will see the planet of the apes ride along with the King Kong ride. I just looked it up and the ride was originally called “Star Trek, Journey to the Planet of the Apes”, and was changed to Star Wars in 1978. He showed it as if Star Trek and plantet of the apes were two different rides but it wasn’t. Read the sign when he shows Star Wars, and you will see “journey to the planet of the apes on the sign. When he shows the planet of the apes ride look to the left and you will see the same “Star Trek, journey to the planet of the Apes” sign.

Plaque outside the fishing floating cabin talks about Allen 'Goose ' Goslin, the baseball player. I believe he owned a fishing boat company and the cabin was one of his floating fishing cabins.

Hi, Joey. Love your content! But are you sure about the timeline of the rides? We vacationed every year in the 70s when I was a kid and I went on those rides. I really believe Star Trek or Planet of the Apes was first, then the Star Wars rides IIRC. The Empire movie came out in 1980 so I really think Star Trek (based on the original series from the 60s) and especially Planet of the Apes would have been there in the early 80s

You're part right on your history. First it was the Star Trek ride. Then it was Star Trek / Planet of the Apes. (Concept being The Enterprise lands on Planet of the Apes and gets taken over by said Apes, where you were then led thru a creepy PotA's walk-thru). Then Star Wars etc. All in line with the chronology of these shows/movies through the 70s / very early 80s.

Connected to it elsewhere. Whew. Oh, the memories. Essentially, you boarded the ship, it spun slowly, stopped, then a character in a cheap costume told you to move out into a ride building (may have been under the boards, I don’t remember). You walked past various papier-mâché Apes/Trek/SW tableaux before stepping onto the rotating base of the “transporter”, which deposited you back on Earth. Disney? Oh, hell no. Fun? Yes, especially depending on who was on duty as a Stormtrooper or Jawa. (True story: Poor 6’ guy was playing the Jawa on one shift and when it came time for us to debark into the ride building, he walked in, smacked the rail surrounding the central “power core” with some kind of baton, yelled “MOVE!” and exited. It must be 30 years since that happened and the friends who rode with me still remember it.)

I’m almost 50 from Philly and Wildwood is just as much a home to me. Of all the rides I’ve ever been on in my life from WW to Disney, nothing ever got me as excited as that Star Wars ride. Morey’s really did a fantastic job. As I recall, sitting in that space ship was the introductory part of the experience that included a character speaking from a glass booth within the ship. It was always extra exciting if Darth Vader was featured. It was followed by an elaborate walk-through that included a lighted hallway with a people-moving conveyor belt that never seemed to work. There was also a ladder climbing portion through a cave if memory serves. The grand finale was the spinning doors. Loved it so much!

The tower is an anti- aircraft gun tower from WWII. We have them in Va Beach. As for the ride, I went on it when I was a kid. I was really young, but it was Star Trek first. It was long before Star Wars came out. Anyway, you went in and it was like you were on the bridge of the Enterprise and compartments along the wall lit up and the crew standing in the compartments in star trek uniforms but were now apes. It was like they were in space hibernation and woke up as apes. They chased you and you walk through some kind of cave area, where the floor was squishy. Vague I know but it was very dark and I was so little. It was amazing though.

The ride ,as i remember, going as you taking place in the spaceship and in the middle there some captain explain us the mission we will make...and then the light come off we ear struggle and when the light came back theres an ape taking place of the captain, telling us we are prisonner , they walk us out by some kind of small corridor ,all in fake rock ,whit some ape hiding in the alcove and hole in wall to jumpscare us ,thats what i remember . One or two years after the same ride was convert as star wars whit the same gig. The rebel captain was replace this time by dart vador and the stormtrooper was hiding in same spot as the ape ... Thank you so much for all those good video and memory you bring back , that gonna sound weird for some people but , the year passing I travel the world ,good memory from everywhere , but my best time EVER was in wilwood

I remember boarding the ride n sitting in the dark and a little booth inside lit up and a person dressed as an ape from the movie was in there talking to us explaining our impending doom or something of that nature! I can't believe u jogged that from my memory! It was so long ago and I actually forgot about it. Thanks so much for some of my fondest memories brought back through your videos Joey!!!❤😎👍

I was thinking the same thing, because I have pictures of myself as a baby I’m front of the planet of the apes ride. And I distinctly remember riding the Star Wars ride and it scaring the crap out of me because the ride stopped, and Darth Vader and the storm troopers boarded the ship and escorted all of us off the ride. But let’s see what Joey says.

Great video! We love finding futuro homes. We have done videos on futuro homes that we have found in Texas and Florida. The one we found in Florida sits on top of a "Step Club" and is used as their VIP room. We have yet to locate one that has been fully restored. This is the first time we have seen one used at an amusement park! The other fiberglass"Cubes" look like they could have been the remains of "Monsanto's House of the Future" which used to be an attraction at Disneyland in California. Great Job!
