Love the cottage resort vibe! Beautiful view... Sad to see it abandoned as it appears to be in fair condition. Seems perfect to be renovated as part artist/writers retreat. Have classes/workshops, do weekend or week long packages. The large rooms could be converted into studio type apartments if there is a need in this area. Think with the right vision it could be revived. There's definitely a tiny house, simple life trend that this resort could draw from.

I thought about the “Dirty Dancing” resort when I saw this too. It was filmed in Virginia, the state I live in. This happened to so many places like this. I guess now that flying is so much cheaper and vacation homes so much fancier, these older places became less appealing. Hopefully they can bring it back to life. Thanks for sharing.
@RiddimRyder4 жыл бұрын
Happened in many areas around the same time from what I have researched. It's sad but I guess "progress"!?!?
@susanmiller41594 жыл бұрын
I agree. Now it’s all about huge bathrooms and private pools. People don’t want to socialize on vacation. They would rather rent a 10 bedroom 11 bathroom beach cottage with a few other families and swim in their private pool and hot tub and game room. They built so many of the big houses at the beaches down here to get around no new hotel regulations and tore town the traditional cottages. They all look the same. No personality.
@RiddimRyder4 жыл бұрын
On top of that, nothing is built to last. We are such a wasteful society & I am sure by my videos you have noticed that. I appreciate you commenting as I do everyone because I do this to show what people, as a society are so willing to just throw away.
@susanmiller41594 жыл бұрын
So true. And now that I am almost 52 I have seen the whole mall thing at its peak and at its ending. Homes and businesses go up, then just torn down 20 years later. Even the same clothes have come in and out of fashion several times. Old houses just discarded for building after building of condos. There was a lake we used to go swimming at called Moore’s Lake in Chester, VA. Look it up sometime. Loads of fun in the 50s through 70s. Closed by 90s. Now covered with apartments. Pretty sad. Change is ok. But did I ever think the mall would die? Did I foresee Amazon (which I have used for literally 20 years) take over empty Walmart’s? No can’t say I did. The true heartbreakers are things like the homes and resorts like you see here. But I also grew up in an old cold drafty house and was so happy to build a new home that had more than one bathroom and central heat and air. So I guess I can understand “progress” can be good. But you still can’t beat a house with some history and character. ❤️

Just came from Urbex Dave of Freaktography. His video was nothing short of hilarious. Now for something serious. The resort resembles a small town. However, it looks forlorn and empty, being devoid of any hustle and bustle of human activities. The main reception building is bigger if compared to the rest of the barrack style houses, which were built motel style, with rooms for guests. These houses were neatly built around the main building, probably for easy accessibility to guests. The area looks picturesque, though. Such a waste to have a beautiful place where, if properly managed and developed would be of great potential. Probably, the resort was not making money, the reason it was closed. Maybe, it has been put up for sale. Thanks Riddim Ryder.

Well first someone owns this property , clearly it is not abandoned. It looks like the owner started renovation and has stopped for whatever reason . Just because a building is vacant doesn't mean it's abandoned or that the government is supposed to swoop in and take people's property for homeless vets.

Looks ready for business, perfect for Temporary Low Income Housing for people waiting for their final transition to their permanent apartment. Its safer than shelters, private and clean. Since no cooking would be allowed, I would have Meals On Wheels make the necessary deliveries, and they buy their meals outside as well. They have the choice to accept the free food given, if not to their liking, they can return it for something else. I want honesty, people should be comfortable and happy with their meals, I do not want anyone going hungry. Thank you for the video.💕

Auberge Du Faubourg. 280 De Gaspe Ave W, Saint Jean Port Joli, Quebec. Was a Spa resort/motel that appears to have closed due to bankruptcy in 2017, was recently purchased by a group of locals in June 2019 who wish to sell to someone with the goal of having it operated again as a resort.

Despite how desolate it looks, there were MANY active houses around the grounds...and why risk a charge greater than trespassing. In Quebec it could be classified as burglary which equals a court date and many follow ups but have to respect the property. Regardless how "abandoned" a place is, someone still owns it.
