Kosi Bay, South Africa | Overlanding the World | Matches on the Map Ep.03

EPISODE 3 of the Matches on the Map expedition:
With our first country completed, we enter back into SA and head towards our next recruitment opportunity in the pristine coastal village of Kosi Bay. This spot had been on the “do before we die” list for years! On the way, we encountered heavy rains and spent a few days at the Pongolopoort dam, did some mudding and upon heading up the Jozini Pass, ran out of fuel. Running the truck on Used Cooking Oil makes things possible, but takes some “out of the box” thinking and on episode three, we try out our first on-the-road cooking oil pickup at a “spaza” shop in Jozini.
Jan, our main man with a plan in Kosi Bay spoil us with our first snorkeling experience on our venture, and we learn more about the Kosi Bay Estuary, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and set up our first campsite recruitment drive after meeting up with the locals. With a Successful drive done, Betsy gets some tender loving care and we hit the road towards more adventure.
At the time of editing this video (around 7 months after filming) we gain our fourth "Official Partner", and you wouldn't believe where the Akers family is from. They've tuned in all the way from the French Polynesian Island of Moorea! Probably the furthest point one could get from where we're located. The family has recently started their build on 416 Mercedes Unimog named Moggy and followed the "Building Betsy" progress closely.

Were you in 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive in the mud?

Can't actually remember, but as It was Betsy's first run in mud, I'm pretty sure I was in 4wd.
