@@frankmsimon thanks, yeah it’s a bit new newer than other programs and didn’t take international students the past 2 years because of Covid. Just curious what are your thoughts on the internship prospects for international students graduating from Australian schools? Will there be issues in 4-5 years or you think still plenty of availability? I’m assuming it isn’t the biggest concern of yours since your gonna be focusing on US residency more than Australia? Also last question haha, how well does the Australian med curriculum prepare for USMLE because I also plan on applying to US residencies too. Does the Australian schedule (January-October) affect residency applying since North American schools are typically August/Sept-may/June?

So I personally don’t think there will be a huge issue down the line, it’s very unlikely the US and Canada both stop receiving international students, and then it’s harder to match into very competitive specialties but definitely not impossible. Some people in my program have also just matched and stayed here in Aussie in the past. The Aussie curriculum isn’t extremely USMLE centric but medicine is pretty much universal, at least for us they do have a dedicated class for it and give us resources like Board and Beyond for free. And then for the match it is kind of staggered in that we’d just have a longer break between end of MS4 and residency as compared to people in the US since the school calendars differ. Hope that answers all of that 😅
