Love your commitment to completing a hike, no what the obstacle. How would you say the mountain views and scenery compare to Glacier NP?

This was one of the most unique hikes I have done to date! As far as views, you're making me compare to my favorite national park (Glacier)! Views were stunning, the ever changing landscape BUT Glacier National Park holds a very special place in my heart. I'm hoping to go next year for my birthday.

Hi Luke! Will be visiting Almaty in September and is considering hiking Big Almaty Lake if the road is still close. From the boundary how far is the starting point to do the hiking? Also is the water pipe very visible in the road side so I know where to start hiking? Thank you in advance. I love your videos, btw!
@LukeGeeTravels

If you were to follow the road it’s about 10+ km but if you follow the pipe it’s maybee 5-7km each way maybe even less. From the gate where the road is blocked you can reach the pipe after about 10 minute walk, you CANT miss it, you will definitely see it! If you have other questions let me know!

I did not see anything like that. I would recommend reaching out to some local guides that could give you more information!

When did you visit -Few other questions. 1. Where should i go from Almaty to start this hike 2. Did border guards not stop or checked documents 3. To what point one can go with this hike

Are you planning on taking a bus or taking your own car? If the road is still closed, you can park right before the booth with the guard and hike from there. The guards don’t check anything. You can hike to the lake or climb the mountains if you really wanted to, but I dont have much information on that. My best suggestion is contacting a local tour company so they can give you the best updates on other hikes in the area via whatsapp

How to go lake from City center? Any restriction

@LukeGeeTravels 3 ай бұрын
When I visited in 2023, the road was closed - it was supposed to open in 2024. It would be best to take a bus then possibly ask someone to take you, or hire a private driver if you don’t have a car

@user-tv3gc7of9e there shouldn’t be! Just for your information- the lake is going to be this milky color until later in the summer when all the snow melts, then it turns more blue color

What is the trek distance ?
@LukeGeeTravels
@LukeGeeTravels 3 ай бұрын
If you take the shortcut like I did, about 5-6 miles roundtrip. If you walk along the road, it will be closer to 15+ miles. You can also hire a tour, tour guides are allowed up there with their vehicles. Check with a local because things may have changed.

@LukeGeeTravels
@LukeGeeTravels 3 ай бұрын
If you mean Open as, when you can visit, I believe you can visit it any time of the day. The road to drive up to the lake was supposed to be open to the public sometime in 2024, but I would check with a local.
