With no promotion to the Lowland League this year because of COVID, the Highland Champions will have a good chance against the Lowland League winners (either Bonnyrigg Rose or EK). Brechin v Brora sounds like an interesting title race. You should also try and get yourself to Scourie fc who play in the league below the Highland League. It's probably the most remote but beautiful ground in the Pyramid.

As a Gaelic-speaker I can confirm your pronunciation was correct, "gay-lick" is Irish Gaelic. In English it's confusing, but in their own languages both have separate names that ended up being translated to the same in English. It's not widely spoken in Brora nowadays, but it used to be very widely spoken, they even used to have their own dialect. There are some Gaelic Medium schools in the area though and there are still Gaelic speakers around, just not nearly as many as there used to be. I agree with your comments on the lower leagues, I love going to different non-league grounds in Scotland. I've also been to Brora and thoroughly enjoyed myself there.

I follow Brora Rangers from Birmingham. Visiting Dungeon Park for the first time late 80s early 90s cant quite remember exact date while on holiday staying with the secretary of the football club at that time who with his wife ran a b&b fell in love with the village & the football club Had many holidays there Try to get at least one visit or more a season with luck a home game at Dudgeon & an away game when on holiday based near Inverness. Unfortunately due to covid last visit was 9November 2019 Brora Rangers 7-0 Buckie thistle 👍👏👏👏

No Scottish football is not "farmers league" Off course it's not as good at the English and Spanish leagues, Aberdeen, Hibs, Dundee Utd or not even Celtic or Rangers can buy players for £100s of millions , but come on, they have a population of only 5 million. I think the Scottish league is class. And they have better fans than down in England IMHO. And some realy good stadiums. And it is a very beautiful country with friendly people. And they welcome everyone. The England hate is a myth. Never been to Brora. But I think it s time for me to visit Scotland again. Have you started working for visit Scotland? Haha

Alan Shields Hamilton South Lanarkshire Scotland. People in the lowlands of Scotland always look down on The Highland League as some how being lower in standard than what was Junior football & what is now The W.S.F.L. but my answer to that is that the people of The Highlands do need a League that is representative of the people The Highlanders of Scotland they are as entitled to have there own football league as any other part of Scotland,& The World. I think people in the lowlands before League reconciliation felt that Highland league clubs got preferential treatment in terms of votes to get in to the league as in Ross County & Inverness Caledonian Thistle but that argument can no longer hold water in my view it's something I never really believed myself. My Dad would always say to me Junior football is a better standard than The Highland League me personally I would of sead there was myb only a slight difference in standard but not as great as my Dad likes to make out. I was good to hear from Jack & if I was unable to go & watch Pollok or Carlisle United at home then I would quite happily watch Wick Academy or Inverness Clachnacuddin in a Highland League game if it was available to stream & the stream was reliable. Keep Safe.
@FootyAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Cheers for watching Alan! Totally agree that the HL league doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Remember Cove got up through the HL league so it's a really good level. Are you planning on getting to some games once the season starts for 21/22?
@alanfox6913 жыл бұрын
@@FootyAdventures Yes 100% planning on doing to so If possible hopeing on July 17th If Pollok are at home for the first league game and fans are allowed in Coronavirus case being particularly high in Pollok at this point & Glasgow still being in Level 3 so fingers crossed things pan out. decently want to get to a games at both McDiarmid Park & The Oval next season for my 40th Birthday possibly The City Ground but all depends on restrictions 🙄. That's my big plans for next season.
