In MADRAS( INDIA)..... We call these trees...JUNGLEE BAADHAM.....Its flowers look very beautiful but we don't use its seeds for any culinary purposes...

This nut is great and filled with different minerals. But it's flower is so disgusting. It emits the smell like shit. So it is recommended not to plant this plant near human habitation.

Yes it is stinky. Sterculia foetida.

Yes it is edible, but you shouldn't eat too many in one sitting as it has a laxative effect. You should also peel off the bitter black coating before consuming. Can be eaten raw or cooked. I don't recall the blossoms being smelly. They do have a slightly-off lemon-scent. We call the trees native peanut trees and red-fruited kurrajong trees.

cooking and mixing it with spicies is NOT necessary. You could've cook and remove the shell first before adding the spices. haiz.. what a waste.
