hi everyone, welcome back to another travel vlog! super stoked to show you guys a little snippet of our trip up north to Chiang Mai this past week. despite a lot of places being closed, we made the most of our trip and ate some delicious food, visited beautiful temples, and got to visit an elephant sanctuary! enjoy!

Hey, I'm planning on teaching out in thailand by October. How has the pandemic situation been out there? I'm worried that covid will really affect my time out there.

compared to the US and Europe it’s pretty good! however we take the virus very seriously and whenever the numbers start to rise, places close and some areas close their boarders / do a lockdown. depends on what you’re wanting to do, kinda just have to go with the flow!

I realize that the elephant sanctuaries are better than riding on elephants but shouldn't the hope be to return the elephants to a more natural lifestyle. Being surrounded by lots of giggling people with cameras seems unnatural to me. I realise the sanctuary needs to make money from tourists to feed and look after the animals staff and grounds. But still i feel the elephants are being exploited.

i definitely still struggle with this! i definitely wish that they were out in the wild but i’m happy to support a family who loves these elephants and takes care of them so well! sadly, that can’t be said for most elephant ‘sanctuaries’.

I understand your point but I think reason they keep elephant at sanctuary is because there's just not enough jungle wilderness in Thailand left anymore ...the elephant can't survive on their own so rather risk them being step on someone property and harm someone it probably better for both human and elephant doing it this way not only elephant got taken care of but it also generates an income for the local too
