In the late 70s we were able to climb the pyramid outside and inside to check out the jaguar at the top. It was also free to visit. Thank you for sharing.

Enjoyed your video! We were in Chichen Itza two days ago. It is a fascinating place to visit. The Mayan dancers at lunch were incredible.

I'm stunned at the fact that those buildings, pyramid, etc are in such good shape after over 1,000 years! How cool that you had both visited the site with your families first. That cenote is sketchy looking, lol. Thanks for the tour!

Right?! It’s pretty crazy how great of condition they are in. The cenote also kinda creeped us out a bit 😅😅😅

Nice intro guys! Wonderful job showcasing this! I visited this in the early 80’s and you could walk up the pyramid. There were no tourists then! It is impressive! ☀️

Cool visit & helpful info. I was surprised you didn’t show the lower pyramid next to el Castillo. When I went that area grabbed my attention with the Chac Mool for heart sacrifice (guide said). The large table behind it was to hold down the victim while the heart was cut out. As a teen that blew my mind! And I’d never go into the cenote even if possible because I just think of all the bones in the bottom from sacrificial victims.😳 I also was able to climb to the top of el Castillo. Plus it was there or Uxmal where we were able to go into the middle of a pyramid- very narrow corridor- to see a gold jaguar statue with possibly emerald eyes. It was quite the experience.

There were definitely a few spots we didn’t show that we wish we did! That’s amazing you got to do all that when you went! You’re very lucky! The idea of bones at the bottom of the cenote also creep us out 😅😅😅 thanks for watching!

Nice video! Im gonna be travelling to Playa Del Carmen in a little over a month. I want to go to Chichen Itza but I don’t wanna do the whole “tour” thing. Would you recommend renting a car and driving there on my own without knowing a lick of Spanish other than the super basics?

You can totally get by with just some basic phrases and google translate on your phone! Driving is a great option. My family did that before :)

So neat! I had never heard of any of this. Your videos are making me realize how little I know of Mexico. I wonder if those in border states in US to Mexico know it better. I am fairly close to Canada border and been there many times but never to Mexico. Its far too late at night for me to watch videos however , when he got in the rental car my brain went …oh no.. the GPS is in another language what are they going to do..and then like 15/20 seconds later I realized what channel was playing in my feed and assumed duh.. it was Spanish and just cracked up at myself :) I think he can PROBABLY do okay with the GPS in Spanish rotf!

So glad we could help you to learn about something new! We think you’ll really enjoy the videos coming out over the next few weeks. That was so funny about the GPS 😂 Luckily we’re good both the English and Spanish options 😉 thanks so much for watching!!!
