This is my hometown :) Interesting to see people from other places exploring it. Its very recognizable from the air. I had a few moment of "I got my haircut there" "My first job was there" "Ive been to that movie theater" while watching this. :) Cleveland is nicknamed "The forest city" because compared to other american cities, big areas of tree growth werent removed. You can see this in the video, the houses are always surrounded by many old, mature trees. I have fun memories of seeing air shows growing up at both Cuyahoga (Cuh-y-Ah-Ho-Gah) airport as well as Willoughby (Will-ah-bee) Lost Nation airport.

Great Video. I, too, live in Ohio. Just above Columbus in Morrow County. I am a retired trucker and did many days travelling around the Cleveland/Akron area. Very nice in the Buckeye State.

I live above Columbus in Richland county, still a trucker, run I90 over to Buffalo 3x a week. So I understand why it was so windy in this video lol

This video sorta answered a long standing question I've had about the "accuracy" of MSFS, but not fully. There's a house that sits right on the corner of Portage County Airport, nestled against the forest bordering one side of the field (left of the runway as he lands in this video) and a road that crosses perpendicularly right at the end of the runway. This house wouldn't be particularly notable if it weren't for it's position and the fact that the owners have a notably bright multicolored LED outdoor lighting strip installed on their deck railing that's quite visible at night. Since their yard is unobstructedly connected to the airfield, the light radiates a good deal into the field in the dark of night. And since MSFS uses satellite imagery for its photogrammetry... well, you can see where I'm going with this. I have heard that every airport in MSFS is hand-modled for accuracy, and I have had this hope that somehow this detail of the deck's perculiar lighting acting upon the airfield had made it in. I just haven't had the opportunity to find out for myself, or find someone who could be bothered to do it for me. While this video doesn't indicate if the lights made it in, it does seem to indicate that the house did. It seems to be just visible on the far left as you lift off from the airfield. I doubt this detail is actually present, but this video is the closest I've ever gotten to finding out for sure... drats!

Cleveland is underrated as a flying destination in MSFS. I was just flying there today, very low and slow in the Got Friends Astro One. As noted, the PG covers a really big area. It is too bad that the bridges aren’t hand modeled though. Cleveland is a multi level city with bridges crossing over bridges, and the 2 1/2 dimensional Bing photogrammetry doesn’t do it justice. It’s also too bad the PG area doesn’t extend to Akron. At 53:03 one of the big dark autogens visible at the top of the screen is actually an enormous airship hangar, though you can’t really tell in the sim except that it has tracks leading out of it towards a circular area near the runways. In real life it’s shaped like a sort of elongated dome with each end being a gigantic clamshell door that would open to let the airship in or out. It’s too bad it just looks like a big warehouse in the sim. The Cuyahoga Valley (KAI-a-HOE-ga) is indeed more impressive from the ground. It is probably best experienced by bicycle. At 59:01 you can see a highway bridge crossing the valley. There are quite a few of these, and they tower over the bike trail below. From a plane, though, they are less impressive. Oh, and by the way the lake is indeed pronounced “eerie.” Thanks for the great flight. This Buckeye (Ohioan) is always glad to see his state shown off like this.

Loved the video. Been to many of these airports when I learned to fly. Unfortunately, Chagrin Falls Airport, where I learned to fly no longer exists. Geauga County had a trailer for an office when I flew there!

Nice flight. Those areas that look like fire breaks are cuts where high-tension power lines are located. They are all over the US.

Great video Jonathan. Having been an XPlane user for many years (and still am BTW), I have finally moved to use FS2020. Great graphics and no doubt the best for VFR, but I still feel like XPlane has the flight physics over FS2020.

@@kokoeteantigha389 I just find the C172 (admit this is the only aircraft I fly) lands with relative ease in FS2020. More difficult in XP, however one could argue the response curve settings between the (2) sims may not be acting in the same manner. Anyway, I find landing the C172 relatively easy in FS2020 even with a decent cross wind.

Nice flight. Do you have any plans to take a look at the new GotFriends DubleEnder? It's a super unique plane, and the most full featured bush plane in the sim, with several first-in-sim features.
