There are dikes like this in random wooded areas across the northeast and upper midwest. Old drainage structures for abandoned or un-realized damming of rivers downstream/re-routing of flowage etc. It is very interesting you will be walkingin the woods and come across this old structure and its just a forgotten project from a bygone era, almost reclaimed by nature but it calls out to humanity one last time before it disappears forever, back into the forest..

I agree and some older projects are so old they don't have any record. just saying

The stalactites are calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate is a byproduct of the cementitious mortar’s or concrete’s carbonation process. Slightly acidic water (acid rain) seeps into the pore structure of the mortar or concrete and reacts with the calcium hydroxide that is a constituent of the mortar or concrete after the cement hydrates. The reaction results in the creation of water and calcium carbonate. When the water evaporates the calcium carbonate deposits remain. ❤

I don't understand, why is there a damn when there's no water on either side?
@davidwayne68Ай бұрын
Because it was supposedly shut down and never completed.

Given the fact, I had to drive up and down a long winding road named "Brimstone" to get there. Yes, I wasn't falling for the bait.

Love the old colonial village Mr. Ford built...the dam was doomed cuz the bedrock is porous. You pretend its some controllers though...good god

Within a few miles are 3 large dams: Sudbury, Ashland, and Hopkinton. But the bedrock was to porous for Mr. Ford. good god!
