The Gothenburg tramway network (Swedish: Göteborgs spårvägar) is part of the public transport system organised by Göteborgs Spårvägar, controlled by Västtrafik in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. The system has approximately 160 kilometres (99 mi) of single track - making it the largest tram network in Northern Europe. Here we are exploring line 8, which serves a large planned housing development outside of Gothenburg, in the borough of Angered. Enjoy!

The model in the beginning is made in Italy. 90% of goteborg residents say these are considered lemon’s because they are not designed for the winter. They have a habit of breaking down in the winter time. Also there are no AC in the summer. A lot of trams in Europe are like this

The problems with that model of tram is really due to two things: incompetent people at the city doing the tender and manufacturer quality. The people who worked on the specification for the tender didn't really know a lot about trams, because they were not part of the organization operating the trams. They specified a longer tram than we had before, which needed to have only double doors and a unrealisticly low weight. The manufacturer that won the bid did so by taking one of their models and making them longer to accommodate the double doors at the front and back, which the original model doesn't have. This made the tram have too much overhang in the front and back in relations to the trucks. And this extension made them too heavy to meet the tender requirements. But the city insisted on them meeting the weight requirement, so the manufacturer had to do some last minute, drastic weight reduction on the completed model which really compromised quality. Another problem is that this tram uses trucks instead of proper bogies because of a requirement for a 100% low floor. For the latest model the organization that runs the trams did the specification again and these trams have single doors front and back, have proper bogies and are much heavier than the Italian ones.
