If your getting about 5 knots try trolling smaller feather or plastic type lures for mahi. That’s what I always used with my power boats. If you can keep some chopped up bait cooled (I know that’s tough)ready to go and a 5/0 hook when you see them just toss it over and let it drift naturally in the current. Or when you see them toss the lure and jig it frantically in front of them. You can do it!!! Mahi for dinner

Thumbs up👍 I lived on Maui in the late 80’s. I got my dive cert in Lahaina. I dove the cathedrals. Been to Hana, lived in Kahului and worked in Lahaina at the Hyatt. I learned how to sail on the Great Lakes but what you did was epic! So positive. Good job 👍🇺🇸

Awesome I sailed to Hawaii on a 30 footer when I was younger and I’ve lived in Hana for a long time!

Loved seeing Hana, HI closeup, so pretty! Loving your videos, just found the channel. Sailing is the way to live free. Serious slackmaster skills, must be all the sailing, for the balance!

Yeah that hostile local was out of line but you did the right thing by leaving. No way of knowing what that crazy lunatic might do to you at night. It’s unfortunate there are ugly people even in beautiful Hawaii who are unfriendly towards everyone. You carry on with your spirit of sailing adventures. Cheers.

Did he edit the video? I saw it twice but can't find the point you're talking about. I'm so curious!

@@Chaosbird87 it was on another one of the videos when Sam was about to moor up in a bay and some local was yelling and screaming at him...and then eventually got in their canoe and paddled over to Sam and threaten him and force him to leave. The only bit of footage you see if the local paddling away.

Guarantee the “waterway” to Hana a lot smoother than the “road to Hana”; there in June! Awesome Destination

The "other" side of this area is spectacular... The Hana Hotel... Red Sand Beach... a Horse Ranch... head "right" and you are there !!!

Hey there Sam, I’m in Maryland enjoying your video posts. I love everything about Hawaii plus I like sailing - so winner winner chicken dinner - the rest of us mortals drive to Hana and it is an epic little (barely) 2 lane road. Sailing there and anchoring in the harbor needs to be added to my bucket list for sure. I’m still scratching my head about the paraglider stored somehow on your boat? You must be pretty good at Tetris....

My name is Josh and I live on the big island of hawaii. I’ve done sailing with my grandparents growing up in Florida and have done day trips on smaller sailboats but have been thinking of getting a 28-40ft Catalina or hunter. Do you recommend me taking some courses on sailing like a captains course or anything?
