Which is your favorite? We so often talk about the different aspects of the flute but so often the details of the headjoint remains a bit of a mystery. While I was at the Flute Center of New York, I decided to tackle this and find out how much of a difference the headjoint makes to the sound of the flute and what the different cuts and specs of the headjoints are. I had a really great opportunity to compare several different headjoints from Haynes and Powell.
In order of appearance:

Thanks for the informative video. I liked the 19.5K gold Powell the best as expected. (for flute material, I like 18K gold the best, and then 950 silver, and next maybe 997 silver.) The second best to me was Haynes N 14K gold (with 14K gold riser). And what was interesting to me was that Powell 14K gold with wing sounded some what like old German flute.

At first I was thankful that you saved me $7K but then you played the platinum and it was hands down the best sounding from here. Colourful and warm and strong lower register. a bit 'grainy' but character filled. Very different from the others IMO.

Good video, and liked the recap, it definitely cemented which ones I really liked from the others. I like the Powell with the wings, the 19.5K Powell and then the Haynes N with the Platinum riser.

The thing I notice is all the gold head P cuts sound the same with only subtle differences. Airy and more cold. N cut is my type of sound. Sustains are more warm, and short notes sound great. That platinum has a fuller sound, but at that price will be a ways out of my paygrade and experience level yet.

Seeing that man on the poster, my first thought was: "I didn't know Regis Philbin could play the flute!" But in all seriousness, I like the platinum piece the best.

19.5 carat gold. Nice, deep sound. What about wooden head joints?

Vid would be more useful if all head joints played in all octaves and what exactly is different about them beside material.

The wing shaped headjoint sounded beat to be but you sound almost the same on all of them.

The differences didn't come through quite as strongly through the video but yes, the focus on the winged one is really nice!

haynes play with more even scaled pitch than powells but powells have richer sound. i don't know the cause of difference because it is such a subtle difference.
