Exploring History at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park

Hiking in Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park located in Pasco County, Florida. Long before it was a park and preserve it was the site of an old ranch and homestead. Some of the trails here lead you around where the McNeil homestead used to be along with abandoned cemetery. Today these areas of the park are preserved and are a nice reminder of the past as you explore around. It makes you curious about the history and wonder what else may be in these woods. It’s a big place to explore with many trails and camping as well. Enjoy the adventures and thank you for watching!

Hello from a Florida Native gal. Just love your videos. Do you venture up Royal Springs way? Recently purchased an acre of raw land a mile from the springs. I’d love knowing more history about that area. Tku for all these informative videos . Things were tough back in those days. Love how you respect the ones who are laid to rest all those years ago.

I like to go to that area when I can I visited Royal Springs once and lost my GoPro in there:) I plan on going back at some point. But in general I like that area along the Suwannee River. Lots of history there for sure!
