leh literally translates to "grove", and town was named leh because of the grove near chutai rantak which is the area back side of the palace and was a stopping pooint for the silk route traders .

Thanks for your Kind inputs 🙏, yes in the book Antiquities of Indian Tibet Vol 1, it does mention Leh comes from Tibetan word sLes meaning enclosure for nomads/traders but also there was another reference in the Himalayan Journal 48 where it referred to Leh as Plateau. I have put a clarification for the same in the description of this video. Appreciate your inputs as well 🙏
