It's really cool to see how committed EstFoxie is in this hobby :D Thanks for the insight!

RC as a hobby is super cool and really underrated these days. It can be as technical as you want it to be and is cheaper than even a lot of PC/VR stuff these days. It's really incredible how in-depth you can go. Makes me wish RC race tracks were more popular.
@CorbinWolberАй бұрын
It is do you race and what do you race I race 8th scale buggy
@SpuktaАй бұрын
In America, UK and the very South of Europe it's still relatively common conpared to northe-east EU. The closest track to me is 50 miles away. There's one RC shop that's not online-only and zero indoor tracks. :(
@bagelhunt17 күн бұрын
Cheaper than pc/vr? lmao what. 1/10th scale crawlers START out at like 700, drift cars even more. You can easily sink a few thousand into 1 car if you're going for speed.
@matthorndrums14 күн бұрын
Im lucky enough to have a track near by. It's a really fun hobby, and a great way to make some new friends.

Dope to see Mudan showcase of something that launched my channel years ago. When I visited Japan I seeked out a few shops to see some locals drive as well! Estfoxie being able to participate and compete is so cool!

Holy crap. 1K entry level? I honestly would have expected it to be like 100-200 bucks for entry level. I'd legit been thinking about buying an RC car lately, but dang.
@saizero0433Ай бұрын
It can be much cheaper if you look at the offers on the secondary market. For example, a standard full setup based on the Sakura D4 chassis cost me about 300 bucks. Of course, everything is far from top-end, but it drives well, you won't feel too inferior on the track
Ай бұрын
Depends on which brand and segment you choose. Even if the Sakura D4 is a cheap base, you still need body, battery, battery charger, esc, radio controller and motor at a bare minimum and all of those more than double the price of entry. Traxxas and Thunder Tiger have nice budget offers on ready to run models for about $300 but you still need to add battery and charger to that price.
@EstFoxieАй бұрын
Sorry my numbers are probably a bit inflated for sure. I was thinking of the setup I use, which has top of the line electronics on a basic chassis. I've been doing this for so long I sometimes completely blank on the more entry level stuff 🙏 But I do feel it's not unrealistic to be spending 1+K pretty quick if you get the "RC bug" 😅

You can get started for a few hundred bucks. You don’t need the best of everything when you start and most clubs have different classes to accommodate people’s budgets.

RC drifting has been huge here in japan recently, I don't live too far away from the place that just held the national competition and you won't belive how many people show up even on a regular basis. That said I race on and off road here, I feel like that transformed into the much smaller niche of those two even though it was a lot bigger a few years ago.
@hotdognobunАй бұрын
Nothing beats drifting an RC car for hours and at the end of the day everything still looks brand new.

I love RC Drifting! My other favorite RC vehicle style/competition, is Competition Rock Crawling. It’s very technical and like drifting it’s about precision..

I’m behind on Mudan videos and I’m binging through them, starting from the bar jumping with Giri. This one is so cool in feeding my soft spot for racing. Shit like F-ZERO has been hitting there for a while but always a great time when a video with Foxie talking about his hobby. Need to follow him at some point. Can you plug Foxie in your recap when you go through the comments?

For people who played Yakuza 0 this is not surprising. (to be fair Pocket Circuit in Yakuza 0 is simpler than this)

Pocket Circuit is based off the RL Tamiya mini-4WD league and that too starts off cheep and becomes expensive quickly. The track alone starts at $600 for a basic oval

I was doing this 15 years ago with mates. This is not niche. It has diminished, but it's not niche. In rc, drifting communities are dime a dozen, there are pro drift rc series in the USA and EU. Like the video, but not fan of clickbaity titles.

1k Euro entry is kinda crazy, you can buy a beater e36 for that money and get into real drifting...
@Cyronx11Ай бұрын
Nah, you can get an entry ready to run kit for like $300-500usd, past that, you'd be building your own kit for your own needs. Back in 2020 I built a budget rig for a whopping $350 Canadian stones. For 1k, def could get you a setup for entry into comps, but at that point, you're relatively committed to the hobby and competing imo.
