The general synopsis of this must've inspired Tarantino's "Hateful Eight" movie too. They feel veeeeery similar

10 to Midnight Great title and nothing to do with the movie ..Assault on Precinct 13 was 70s grit to perfection ..relentless and just old school film making at its best

I've just seen it for the third time yesterday. Oh man, I love this flick, it's so rough but so cool. What can I say what was not already mentiuoned here and there. I love the urban western Rio Bravo vibes with Night of the Living Deadesque attacks. Great stuff. I love all all the characters in it. I believe Napoleon Wilson is one of the best and most overlooked anti heroes out there. His lines are awesome and so quotable , the way he delivers them is top notch, a very charismatic guy :) His relationship with Ethan Bisahop is awesome. Leigh is cool, so are Wells, Starker and Julie. To some extend you can sympathize with the gang, they are a product of the ghetto, they are united and multicultural in the heavily divided world, they got their friends killed by cops, so they want a simple revenge. Of course when the kid dies it's obvious they are a real bad people. And the music, awesome! After the third time I only think if the subplot of father and daughter was necessary to be honest. I don't mind it at all, however it is the only thing in the movie I find bit awkwardly written. The gang would attack the precinct anyway, as they did that bloody promise of a revenge, after cops shoot their friends. They even bring the jar and smash it in front of the building. So father who killed one of the guys is just an additional thing which may attracted them. On the other hand since he got inside, and they think all happens because of him, his presence gives the scripot a reason for an interesting moral debate. So yeah, at the end I think this subplot is important. Cheers Jason, thanks for the review.

Hey Jason, great reviews. For the longest time I was just a casual Carpenter fan who loved Halloween but something clicked with me a couple year ago when I re-watched The Thing. Now I love Carpenter, easily a top 10 favorite director of mine, all time. What I wanted to ask you is, are you getting the Shout Factory Steelbook blu ray reissue Assault and Prince of Darkness? I pre ordered it myself. I'd say review Elvis, although I do need to watch it myself. I agree totally with you on your In the Mouth of Madness review, it a hidden gem of a movie. I love it.

What a great movie. Can’t believe I haven’t watched this before today. I loved all the characters. Showing Wells getting away in the car stopping at the pay phone was such a sad scene. I screamed no as the guy behind him was revealed. Everything with the main prisoner Wilson was amazing. All the lines in this movie are just too damn good. I hear what you’re saying about Leigh’s character but I felt like she was a good character. I thought she was very calm under pressure, cold as ice when she had to be and also showed complete sorrow every time she saw her dead friend. Loved the score. “Well, there are two things a man should never run from, even if they cost him his life. One is a man who’s helpless and can’t run with you.”

Rio Bravo is a classic. And if you've seen Get Shorty, it's got the great Travolta line about Rio Lobo & Rio Bravo. Plus I like seeing Dean Martin & Ricky Nelson sing 2 songs. 1 if which ended the Pie O My episode of the Sopranos.
