In this video, I’m visiting several buildings of the Veterans Memorial Hospital Unit of the former Kings Park Psychiatric Center. Upon its opening in 1927, the Veterans Memorial Hospital Unit at Kings Park became the first state operated mental health facility dedicated solely for the treatment of United States veterans and is generally noted as one of the most significant events in the history of the state hospital system.

Wow, I was just on the property and was curious when I saw the building with Veterans Memorial Hospital words on it. There are so many buildings and it's pretty creepy. Thank you for bringing respect to the men and woman who served our country and paid for it with their bodies and minds. God bless our veterans!

@@johnlazzarophoto I know this wasnt to me, but the video length was perfect. I frequented Kings Park not to long ago and its truly crazy to see how much decay has occurred in the past few months. I would definitely recommend going back and checking out the quad buildings (buildings 41, 42 & 43) would be awesome to know more a backstory of those.

i really enjoyed your tour. i used to work there. building 7, building 22 and 23. my dad, uncle, neighbors and ex all worked there also. i have some fond memories. there is a lot of asbestos there especially the paint. i hate some of the other guys who do the tour. they act like idiots. yours was very nice.

When i was there a few weeks ago, there was security on a forklift panning around between building 29 and the quad unit - all through the campus. what was it like then? is he still there now?

I explored all 13 floors at night , on the right wing. I climbed in through the basement and went all the way up and onto the roof, probably not a smart idea considering it’s 130+ years old. I Went to the main Rec room with all the flipped over beds with the straps, turned my flash light off and “said if any spirits are present show yourself now” , nothing happened. The two friends I was with were very angry. My friend is religious and got bad vibes and begged us to leave . We pushed up and discovered a bell in the attic with an old generator from the 1900s. I also saw lobotomy chairs and tools for electroshock therapy. Each floor has long corrodors with rooms and showers and blown out windows. Retracing my steps and Figuring out how to get out was the only fear I felt. It’s designed with that intent. Ran into a group of highschool kids happy to see us. Didn’t go anywhere near the morgue.
