I love K-indie for 2-3 years now It is just soothing and nice to hear when you want to chill

Miss Kpop NightCore I also like k-indie, do you have any recommendations?
@rinchi35 жыл бұрын
@@k._875ly5 Well there is a lot that I know thanks to Spotify but there is Vanilla Acoustic that I've known for some time and there is also Bolbbalgan4 as well. 10cm sing some indie songs and Urban Zakapa. I'll just make a list: 92914 Chamsom Acourve CHEEZE Sundaymoon Martin Smith (not the american singer if you search it up on youtube and google but just search up Martin Smith Paint On Spring then that him) and many more but I can keep you updated if you'd like there are many more I know but I usually forget the name of the artist

Indie and punk was banned for some time in many major broadcast as well in South Korea due to an incident back in 2005. Cool to see kind its emergence now.
@choister10435 жыл бұрын
Nick Lo What was the incident called?
@Anyway.Iloveyou5 жыл бұрын
@@choister1043 made a mistake ahaha but the incident was on music camp on mbc in 2005! With a band that was around in the late 90s but just started to gain popularity around that time. A band called Rux. It wasnt them who did it but was some fellow guest band members that got nude on stage.
@choister10435 жыл бұрын
Nick Lo Just watched a video about it, absolutely disgusting.

I believed that South Korea was a democracy! How could a genre of muaic got banned in a democracy?
@chimcham67625 жыл бұрын
Ma Chi They may be a democracy but their culture is conservative and heavy censoring still exists because of this. It is what it is. There have been many genres that have been banned e.g. hip hop was heavily censored in S.Korea and so was rock.

I live in Hawaii and ran into some Koreans surfing and shredding it up out at queens on a good 6ft day. Some of them really love the culture and the surf here on Hawai’i and come once in a great while just for the waves. It was cute to see them all dressed in the surf fashion and enjoying the ocean. Great video

A lot of people don’t know about the underbelly of Korea’s massive musical scene (largest and most prolific in Asia) and all the fresh talent that’s coming up deviating away from Kpop culture. KRnB, Neo-Soul, Jazz, Indie, is all popping. In terms of Hip hop Korea’s still pretty weak (as with most Asian countries) but there is a small group called Cohort and some members or AOMG who are pretty fresh in terms of Hip Hop.
@chimcham67625 жыл бұрын
Right. I was introduced to South Korea by way of a politics and governance course I took at uni and Kpop. A lot of Kpop fans know nothing about Korea as a whole or other scenes in Korea outside of Kpop. Personally I can’t get into a lot of the hip hop cause it’s not innovative and is a direct rip off of current US hip hop trends however what I am impressed by, as someone who loves neo-soul & R&B, is their underground up and coming music genres. I have listened to some dope ass unknown and known Korean artists doing soul, neo-soul and K-R&B truly some justice. There’s talent bursting out of South Korea and I wish people would look beyond Kpop to find it.
