Join us as we travel around one of Alberta's hidden gems, Lac la Nonne. This large lake is very popular in the area for watersports & fishing all year long. We got invited by Lac la Nonne Adventures to come explore this gorgeous area while staying in their waterfront cottage which gave use access to a private dock, wonderful grounds & serene feeling of sleeping by the lake.
At the same time we discovered the rich history surrounding the Klondike Trail that passed through this area over 120 years ago. The Klondike Trail or Chalmers Trail was an overland route to the Klondike Gold Rush in the Yukon. Prospectors were reaching the Klondike via the American route over the Chilkoot Pass, and a northern (water) route via Edmonton and the Athabasca River. Edmonton's merchants, however, promoted an overland route, which appeared shorter on the map, but proved to be arduous, treacherous, and took much longer to travel.
Along with the wonderful cottage sponsored by Lac la Nonne Adventures, we got the chance to paddle the lake & also drive around the entire area. In the process we discovered alot about the history of the lake & also showcase all the boat launches for your next adventure at Lac la Nonne.
