Thanks for including the link to the tour! I'm visiting Lisboa this summer, and I'm going to book this tour as part of my itinerary. Portugal's Black history is not talked about among my parent's generation. I'm excited to learn more about my ethnic history (Im 2nd gen in North America).

@@RSkies that makes no sense, its interesting how not one of you myth busters go to Africa and ask and search out what and how much the chiefs sold their own people for, I personally believe you're going to get the silent treatment plus tell me how on earth could a country of ten million people today less than half during those days went into a continent the size of Africa and took people at will, never happened it was a mutual transaction so I recommend that you and other slave story searchers while in Portugal enjoy sightseeing the local food and the beaches I think you will find more gratifying besides the slave stories are getting old have a nice day.

It is there. But from what we have learned Portugal have chooses not to talk about it thought they don’t hide the facts… that’s not okay.

@@AsshurK well first of all its part of a dark complex past I'm sure its nothing to be proud of, but if you speak to a Portuguese about it they will not shy away from it,did you get to visit the slave museum and also did you know that Africans lived in Portugal before during and after the slave trade?

@@jasperwinehouse9456 the point is, it has to be talked about in order for healing to happen even if we are not proud of it. I mean it was also a very different time, but bringing the convo to the fore front is important, especially for Portugal. Of course blacks were living in Portugal in all those periods you mentioned, blacks has always been important parts of society, but was forced to be less than humans during the trade.

A racist tour

How so? Portugal has a place in history with colonialism, which is not talked about and downplayed as just the 'age of discovery' and spice trade warm fuzzies. Sorry talking about it openly bothers you.

@@luisfilipe534is it talked about? Have Portugal apologized for its role in the slave trade? What are they doing to improve the lives of the people affected after the trade? Maybe you know otherwise.

@@AsshurK all countries that have a past in slace trade are supposed to excuse to eachother nowadays? Among inside África? Among inside Europe? Among arábic countries? And yes, all history is teached in portuguese School. Evaluate any countrie according to past actions is ridículous. And no, i dont buy this anti-white racism.

@AsshurK Have Nigeria, Angola, Mozambique, etc apologized for there role in the slave trade? What are they doing to improve the lives of the people affected after the trade? When you only want to blame the whites... it kind sound racist you know what I mean?
